Hey Tim. Very sorry indeed to hear about your Dad. I will miss spending chatting to him (usually for an hour lol) as he was so into telling me about all his mad inventions haha. Glad we got to stay at your house and spend a fair bit of time with him when we came to Can-Bra too. Wishing you all the best mate.

Yes Perry he was always up for a chat, no matter who was one the phone. I remember countless times I would come down to the garage for something and he was on the phone. I would come back 20 minutes later and he was still talking to the same person. And about those mad inventions...have you seen a movie called 'Back To The Future'? If so do you agree he looked like 'The Doc'? That explains the mad inventions for you lol. That's just the kind of guy he was...he opened his home to 5 people over Easter last year...sorry bout stealing your room lew (hehe).

Mark was kind enough to give me somewhere to sleep that Easter in Canberra, he will be missed. It was great to meet him after quite a few of those long conversations on the phone. Condolences to you Tim and the rest of the family RIP Mark.

Tim, have just logged on after several days away and am shocked at this news. I live in Tanzania and was really nervous about getting a Soarer a few years ago because nobody here would be able to help with electrical problems. Then I found the ALSC site and saw your dad's name appearing all over the place responding to people's questions. And when I had problems with my stacker he contacted me by email with pictures and explanations of things I could do since sending it to him for repair wasn't really on the cards. A truly generous man, and a gifted one. I hope you and your family have many happy memories of him - clearly from all these posts here everybody knew him for the remarkable man he must have been. Many condolences. Seamus.

To Tim & the greater Soarer community my sincere condolences. I, like many others had the pleasure of speaking with Mark on several occasions which ended in both our phone batteries going flat. Mark was a magnificent story teller and when he got going he took great joy in sharing his experiences in his various cars and his life in general. I know life had been a hard for Mark of late and after several phone conversations i felt helpless knowing a good guy was struggling Mark was always kind, courteous, and meticulous in his work, our loss pales into insignificance to you Tim and your family, deepest sympathy. RIP Mark

Hey guys, Thanks for that link Neil, I appreciate it. And Ben, you say he was meticulous in his work...and he was. He just had to get everything right, and sometimes he would even get angry because I would come down and tell him dinner was ready. To him it was another interuption, but no matter what i cooked for him, he would always eat it.he loved having me around, i cooked, i cleaned, i did his washing...i was like his 3rd wife lol. And Perry, I know how you felt. I'm from queensland to.

Hell. I've been off line for a couple of weeks and just read this thread. I had a long conversation with Mark a while back when he finally (with Neil's assistance) finished my stacker. I felt he was coping better and I was looking forward to his return to the Soarer world. A lot of people owed him money and it really was a bad time for him to be in that position. Sadly missed and a tragic loss to us all.

I had only a few email interchanges with Mark, and sorry to hear about his departure. Tim, is there any chance you can give us a run down on the Man for those less familiar. Would love to hear more about a bloke so dedicated to perfection and would be keen to hear where his interests in this fantastic vehicle started.

As with many others, I have not visited this site for a while as I have been on Holidays. To return to the Forums and hear of the passing of such a great and knowledgeable man comes as a great shock to me. As with you all, I know that Mark was one of the true nice guys, one that was both knowledgable and patient, with a willingness to share information and help those in need. A truly selfless man. My thoughts are with Mark's family and I hope that he finds peace. RIP Mark, you will be sorely missed by all. Troy
