Hi All,
well the old man decided to see if he can get more than 800kms out of a tank if diesel in his rodeo. Result the ute ran out of fuel and stopped.
Filled her up and started it - ran for a mere 10 sec and died. Since then were unable to get any fuel to come through. The primer pump is dry. Ive cracked open each injector to relive any air pockets etc.
So far no dice. Has anyone got ideas. I can blow air by mouth on the in and return lines back to the tank so it ain blocked. But pumping the primer pump does nothing.
Help please if anyone is knowledgeable of these things.

similar question on another forum i read the other day, these were the replies,
Fill the car up, turn the ignition to ON and allow the pump to prime, switch it off, then switch it to ON again, then wait, then start the car. This will allow the pump to prime, pressurise and hopefully the car will start back up no problems.
It takes around 10 litres before the pump will prime the fuel system which is two fuel can trips if you have a typical 5 litre fuel can.
it was for a 4cyl 2ltr petrol car, however the same might apply to your motor. good luck

Damn, you're not supposed to run diesels dry or it will cause such difficulties. I'm sorry to say but it will take some effort to get it started again.
I've read somewhere that I think Mercedes has put a fake warning sign in their diesel powered cars, where the ECU makes the car act as if it is out of fuel, way before it actually does run out of fuel, so that the driver doesn't have this issue.
Good luck sorting it out, and don't do that again

I didnt do it, but im the one stuck with having to fix it. Although ive made some progress, I can start the sucker now but she is very very very rough. While running i cracked each injector to let the air out and this improved it somewhat but there is almost no reaction to the go pedal , it just sits there coughing away.
Why isn't there a bleed valve on the damn High Pressure Pump? - Damn Holdens(Isuzus)

You will have to bleed the fuel system to get rid of all the air. Most diesels I've come across have a section in the handbook that details how to bleed them.
