Wow!! I can't believe its already been 2 years today when hurricane Katrina slammed our gulf coasts!! The devistation and lives lost are immeasurable. My heart goes out to those families, and mine, affected and are still struggling through all the red tape and financial woes. By far this country's most devestating and financial natural tragedy!! My condolences!!

Saw a doco on it a couple of nights ago - I can't believe how little has been done to clean up the mess. In NZ government officials would be getting hung out to dry for leaving it like that for two years, and its not like we have a very efficient government.

We have very corrupt officials here in Louisiana, money never seems to filter down to the people who needs it the most. All in all, its not a bad place to live. Some people here just sit in FEMA trailers "waiting" for the government to build them a house, while the rest of us take the matter in our own hands and take care of it ourselves.

Yep, the government is my favorite charity!! I really hate double taxation; they tax me 30% of my paycheck AND take taxes out at the grocery store, buying a car, a house, clothes, and on and on... Out of every dollar you make you really get only about 45 cents!! We succeeded from the British for this reason to find out this is what we are really doing!! Great country, huh! LOL ( really, I wouldn't live anywheres else!!)

Yeah, Mardi Gras, Schmardi Gras!! I dont go anymore because I live only 45 miles from N.O. and I've been a million times. Its dirty pissed filled alleys, vomit, trash, WEIRDOES, and too many gays for me. Its a tourist trap and very expensive. I know everybody says they're jealous of me but when you live here its different.

No... Highest you'll get slugged is 45% at 150K. At 75K you'd still be paying 30%... (plus medicare levy)
