(Update, getting a 428 in my Mach1 rather than a 351w. 351c or 390 would also suit).

How about this one (black)? found in just cars:

mach1 1970, 351 4V Cleveland, FMX transmission, 9" diff, RHD, A1 cond inside and out, reg 4/08, K34 without plates (VIC), RWC supplied.

or maybe this (white):

mach1 1969, 428 cobra jet big block, complete restoration, multiple trophy winner...blah blah blah....VIC, K95

both look fantastic :-)

Nope.. the later stangs aren't really my thing. Round those years I prefer the GM and Mopars.

But look at the difference in price for the CJ! Doesn't even say it's a SCJ.

yeah, big difference hey. the rest of the blurb for the CJ is simmons wheels, 15X9", 15X8" spare set 15X10, original factory big block, 9" diff, 31-spline detroit locker, auto trans, disc front, GT finned drums on rear spoiler, shaker, rear louvre, fold down rear seat and fold away steering wheel, 750 holley, some spares. Pardon my ignorance, but what is the SCJ? Is it Super CJ?
what's the difference?

The 390 doesnt have to be a standard for a '69 for me to enjoy it =P

I'd love to buy locally as well, but they are all too pricy and too RHD. =P

Ahh well i guess i will stick to the original dream of a 351w ;) They arent THAT bad =P

Yeah, Super Cobra Jet. Only 10 more hp but that little bit more collectible.

RHD SUCKS! Keep em original. Butcher em and they're never the same. No matter what you're told about "oh this guy does a FLAWLESS conversion".

I dunno how many 69s you'll find with a 390 in them? Suppose you could get a 351W car and put one in.. but then why not just go to the 460? (cough cough FUEL BILL - 351 is bad enough!)

That black firebird is the sh!t. Heh heh stingray is the 3rd gen. That's a second gen. Here's one I prepared earlier:

Windsors are an Awsome motor! Just replace it with a Late model EFI version and you can build a 400-450hp stroker as a daily driver no probs!

My old man had an Efi 5L windsor in an EB falcon... Afr heads, stock bottom end, edelbrock intake ,70mm , 80mm afm, 42 lb injectors, Lunati cam... Thing was making 350hp and was a daily driver! 2800 convertor, 4.11 rear end with the 4 speed auto...

MY old man Ringed the NEck out of this thing.... Shifted at 6800rpm ( off the factory tacho ) . Sold it with 290,000km's on the original bottom end... Didnt go through oil or anything..

To this day, that is a testament to how tuff those windsors can be!

EFI defeats the purpose of a carby setup though? =P

Big block carby v8 = pure horn and love juice dribble inducing.

Nothing wrong with EFI.. only thing is it's fairly ugly under the hood and not original. Some say carbs give better exhaust note, I don't really buy into that. Personally I understand EFI better, but I like carbs more on old cars. They look better, they suit the car, and if I wanted to play with another freakin computer I'd go to work.

Of course there is nothing wrong with EFI! Its more efficient for starters!

But the good ol' carby is easy to tweak so that it has a slightly rough idle.. isnt it?
I love that sound.. glug glug glug.....glug.... glugl glug...glug glug glug....

The glug noise is of course the sound of petrol turning in to vapour, along with your wallet! ;D

Weeeeell, some people say you get a little more gluggy sound out of a carb. But cam choice, timing and exhaust have a lot more to do with it. I guess you can fatten the idle a tiny bit and slow it down to the bare minimum with a carb easier. But if you really want that nice lumpy rock n roll idle, you've gotta do it with a cam. Basically if you put a rough idle in it with a carb, the car will just run like crap. And it's not much of a job to just pull the old cam and order a Saturday Night Special.
