Right.

Ive given the new Zoom format 3 chances.

First, the stupid narrow text columns gave me the McSh|ts.

Then, I noticed the real tech stuff had gone awol, and was replaced with ads for cheap chrome rims featuring unsuccessful bikini clad groupie hos.

Now, I have to listen to some teenage pimpledick motherf*cker from fast fours (who no doubt drives a fully sick wrx with 20" chromes and a twin trumpet B.O.V. from autobarn) tell me how a H2 hummer with 300rwkw will, and I qoute "hand you your ass at the traffic lights."

Well to that author, I quote advice from a true industry professional:

"Suck my fat dick bitch"- Ron Jeremy.

Whilst you dont need to do the maths to work out that 300rwkw and 3600kgs isnt fast, if you did, it would probably land somewhere around....oooh....the power to weight of a Camry?

So,

F*ck Zoom. F*ck the new editor. F*ck the whole fast fours brigade for wrecking what was once an excellent value, well formatted, Australian auto enthusiast's magazine that contained inspirtational projects and good technical advice.

Wankers.

Yeah Aaron, My car was supposed to make the January issue, But it wont even make that!

Have to read about a 12.0 second 300ZX with Lots work, Race fuel and a 100hp shot of NOs on MT tyres.....

Also im sick of buying HPI and ZOOM only to read the same INFO articles about new products...

And Re the Hummer... That thing aint handing nothing its ass at the lights, and it would never see any track work!

When i emailed Zoom to try and get my car an article, my main focal point was :-

" Zoom was comprised to put GO before SHOW and to prove you dont have to have Big Bucks to get the job done!"

Man My TT wouldnt win awards for being the best looking ride, but after reading car magz for 15 years and spending less than 5K in mods and running 11 sec passes in a daily driven car, i thought," IM sick of seeing $25+K 12 second pieces of crap ( you get my point, im not trying to be rude to anyones rides that HAVE been in there)... My car deserves a spot in here for it acheivments...

Anyways, Aaron, I understand where your coming from mate... They had a great mag and are transforming it into the Hot 4's kind of stuff ...

What happened to all the Backyard Build ups? or Mods on Budgets or Best Bang for your Buck kinda info and tech articles...

I haven't bought a car magazine in over 5 years, don't think ill ever buy another.

Being a car enthusiast is one thing and being an arrogant journalist is another. Most of the cock slappers that write that sort of junk are the later.

No doubt sometimes there are some real cars worth reading about, actual enthusiast cars that aren't overdone, the ones that have an actual purpose.
These are seldom mentioned because there's little mindless spending going on, no dash full of Apexi EL gauges to show off.

When it boils down to it, most of the dyno figures, article references and pictures smell of advertising bias and bullshiz at the same time.

A big percentage of the blinged up cars in these mags are (a) workshop sponsored, or more commonly (b) *cash* money funded.

Most of the dyno figures are fudged and a good percentage of the listed modifications don't actually exist. I'm not surprised you're over it Aaron.

That's why I started motorbike mags instead
All the car mags are going down the same path. I don't care how sick 20inch rims will make my car look, or how great it will go if I tune it for methanol. Its turned into a competition about who can spend the most on their car.
That's not to say some of the bike mags aren't the same.

LOL not all of us! I do most of my writing on drag racing though, not much of the import stuff (as much as I would like to do more).

Adam, if you hate all the magazines - why did you buy them? Or was that just an attempt to sell them hahaha jump on the bandwagon!

Speed remains my favourite of the mags, shame it went under. I still buy autosalon from time to time, quite good quality even if the cars in there aren't always my style.

Ok, time for my gripe with Zoom now...

A mate of mine has an off tap S6 RX7 that zoom wanted to feature when he was still living in NSW. Now that he is back here in SA they said that they would wait until they have a few cars over here they want to shoot as sending their photographer over here for one car would not be financially viable, UNLESS he can source a photographer that can shoot feature quality within their budget.

So he dropped my name in the hat and linked them to some of my work. Apparently my work that is good enough for Street Machine, RPM, The Advertiser, Sporting Car Club, Drift USA, Ferrari Club and Shannons Insurance is not good enough for Zoom magazine?!?
