Hey lads,

I just bought a Simpson Diamondback Helmet ( not delivered yet )

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v472/Parados/129.jpg

and I'm just wondering about the Certifications so I can use it, all helmets and stuff in Australia need to have the Australian Certification sticker on it...

So how do I get one on my helmet? as It's coming from over seas.

It says that it's Snell 2005 Certified.

Australian Helmets need to be Snell Sa Approved or something...

I just need it Australian Approved or whatever and that 5 tick sticker whacked on, or is it ok with it's original certification from America?

Not even sure if any of that made sense but oh well.. :-( hopefully you's know what I mean...

Well I doubt you're going to get an AS sticker "whacked on".

not legal for a bike, fine for on the track. There is a SA2005 sticker on the inside back under the padding, point that out to the scrutineer and all will be well.

I have a bandit and have used it at WSID with no problems.

FYI also, all the 'Simpson' stickers that come on the helmet should come off quite easily, makes it look much better.

do not take it karting!
you will up your $150 (? cant remember how much my sheild was) iridium shield way too quickly and the rest of it will get chipped too. And if you do stack, there probably wont be too much of a difference between the simpson and the hire job.
I know its very light and will feel a nicer on a kart considering the G's you will be pulling but it is not worth it for how quickly it will get chipped.

If you do insist on taking it karting, its a matter of how knowedgable the scrut's are. Supposebly the SA2005 standard is higher than the AS. We are talking about helmets that top fueler drivers wear after all.

I didn't even think of the chipping...I want to try take it ONCE and see if they will let me if I show the certification on the inside...

And my Iridium shield was $90 AUD :-(

Ah well what's a few chips...

Better then sitting in mint condition gathering dust.

How do you get a sticker?

I think you provide the standards people with about 10 of them to smash.

Why do they not accept Snell here? Well before SA2005, I believe Snell did not even include a puncture test. Pretty important when you're sliding around on the road.

Man, that sucks arse. At least in NZ they accept US and EU certification stickers on most things.

No, they do accept most American stuff here. They are stricter on helmets though. I find that to be a good thing. Remember, in America a lot of states do not even mandate helmets for motorcyclists.

Good point. I was watching American Chopper the other day and the old guy and his wife were screaming down the highway at quite some rate of speed, neither of them wearing a helmet, or any safety gear for that matter. The speed they were at they would have been mincemeat if they came off.
