what would you take, the soarer shown below or the XR8??

by brother is selling his XR8 and is whiling to do a straight swap with my soarer. i love my soarer and obviously its quicker, but there is just something about the XR8.

i loved V8s ever since and his especially. he has modified intake, chip, extractors, new throdle (how ever you spell it haha) body, exhaust system and its manual.

it sounds mean and its quiet quick. so, any suggestions or opinions, is it worth it or not???
i have a month or so to think about it, what do you guys say??

Take his xr8, sell it and buy yourself a nice black 97 single turbo manual. Invest the remaining funds as you see fit.

Take Josh and Dave's advice. Take the XR8, sell it- buy a single turbo and a late model v8.

How come he wants to do a straight swap Alen? A $12k Soarer V $26k XR8?

I'd go the XR8 :-)

Sadly at the moment I'd take the XR8 - just becuase it would be much easier to put the baby in the back of it.

haha there has been a bit of miss understanding, my mistake, what i mean by straight swap is that i would have to give him my soarer and add the remaining money in cash on what ever we agree on.

so its not like i swap, sell and make instant profit, if that was the case i wouldnt even think about it lol.

now his been selling it for couple months and ppl have been giving ridicules offers, the pics are bad but the car is in top condition. another thing is the new XR8 is coming this year so the value of the car would drop soon anyway.

now i have drivin it alot, and i am scared that if i buy it i'll get sick of it in a few months and i wont be able to buy my soarer back because his planing to sell it

It all depends on if you plan to keep it.
If you plan to keep it, go the Soarer. Build quality is just better.

If you plan to sell it in a year or two then I'd take the XR8. Much easier to sell at a decent price.

On the other hand you probably couldn't loose much on the Soarer, depending what you're going to pay for it.

Probably not the best idea to ask the question on a forum full of soarer enthusiasts.

I've always been a ford man, but i drive a soarer, if i could have found a decent xr8 at the time i was looking for my soarer i probably would have taken it.

I've driven a couple of BA falcons and they're all great to drive and when you take the price of parts into perspective the better option is probably the xr8.

Tough choice. Those XR8s are pretty cool and it's a nice car for sure. I *would* say grab it but a panel beater showed me what sits underneath the skin on those new Fords.. the car wasn't much over a year old and it already had a line of rusty spot welds where he peeled the quarter back. I wouldn't keep one for too many years.

Do the swap, sell the XR8 for $30k and buy yourself an even better soarer :-) like a 1999 VVTi Black on black for 20k and then have 10k left over for mods and making it pretty :-)

The decision is not an easy one, and it sounds like you are already thinking you'll get sick of it.
It's also quite noble that you want to assist your brother in his sale, even if you have to pay more for a car that will give you a lot less.

Back in the Mad Max days
XY,XA,XB,HQ,HK,HX,etc
I was a keen FORD follower, and truly appreciated the old Holden,
I was only young too,
but then you could recognise the individuality that each car had,
as the cars of today have become more "clone like",
sometimes its hard to tell what is what.

Take for example the Bathurst 1000.

Once upon a time not long ago in a land far away, there was a race that had different cars racing, now the only thing that differentiates these Group A cars is either the colour the drivers name is written on the TV,
or if your lucky,
you'll recognise the different badge screaming down the track.

The Ford is a great car, don't get me wrong,
and I can hear all the Ford fans yell,
"Go The Ford!",
XR is a great concept, even the GT stripes that are positioned in the wrong spot, and look exceptionally bad, make it stand out from the crowd......the crowd of similar looking Falcons.

Check out the new G series Ford, on the FORD web site,
"G" stands for "Gee it looks like a CommomDore......Again!"

Go the change, become a clone.
You may look back and decide that it was a great idea, or clearly not.

Good luck Alen with your decision

thanks guys for your opinions, got me worried there on the first few comments since everyone was for the XR8 but i dont think i would go for the XR8 yet.

too early to go from Twin Turbo to V8, plus my soarer is twice as quicker than the ford, i guess am just missing driving a manual

so i think i just might go and buy some mods for the soarer or fix that scratch i have on the front bar that i made not too long ago, and that should keep me quiet.

i'd say get him to trade it in and you keep your soarer, personally i see the soarers as a more, unique car, as opposed to a ford. and as the new XR's are coming out soon he should cash up while he can... or just upgrade.
