How could you say something like that ??? The XY GT is an australian motoring icon and fetch big $$$$$ from collectors, recently there was an auction of old school muscle, where a GTHO P3 went up for auction and sold for over $1,000,000.
Regardless of what car it is, saying something like that is pretty hearltess and immature, you should be ashamed of yourself mate... im certain that if you crashed your car after you spent $90k+ restoring it you wouldn't have the same attitude.

Maybe mechanical failure? All those new bits, maybe something was faulty. Still, looks like it might have been traveling at a fair rate when it crashed.
I'm not a fan of primitive muscle cars either, (leaf springs and swing axle, razor blade tyres + x00 BHP, and I'm guessing drum brakes in the rear - hey maybe thats why he lost it), but its tragic to see so much love and hard work go down the drain.

What the hell? If he's not interested then it's just some old crap box to him. Just coz someone is willing to part with huge money for something doesn't mean to say that everyone should idolize the damned thing. If he crashed his own car I'm sure he'd be p1ssed, but I don't think he'd expect the whole world would mourn his loss. Settle....

Not Ford Fanboi, but appreciation where it's due, that was a very nice restoration before it became minced again.
For those that done know, the HOGT Phase III was the beginning of realisation for Australia in regards to giving cars some power. This is also when the sleepy insurance company boxxes realised they would need to do something, or risk loosing a lot of money to people driving these things, due to being over powered, under-handled, and under-braked.
There was uproar with the HO came out, because when insurance realised the HO stood for High Output, they realised people where going to drive them harder and faster, and risk crashing them quicker.
I know it's only a car, but it's not the car that has been destroyed, it's the history behind the car, the hard work and love that has gone into the restoration, and the small but still respected peice of history that has been damaged.

Its interesting how the insurers wanted it changed so that people wouldn't crash them... but that's what happened anyway and why they are so rare these days!
