Its about my throne, my crapper.

The cistern, specifically. I replaced the plunger valve seal (the main seal between the water tank and the opening valve that lets water into the bowl) about six months ago and its just started leaking again. Im noticing a fair bit of silt accumulating in the bottom of the tank.

Boy I sure hope that isnt a bit of blowback huh?

The building is early 1980's block of flats.

Any help appreciated.

So what actually is the question?

The seals deteriorate due to the chlorine in the water which is why we have to change them so frequently.

The brown silt will be incoming from the water pipes not blowback. If you are worried you could put a filter on the incoming water.

Yeah, i was kind of surprised that Ive had to replace the seal again so quickly. Previously, it never needed changes.

Is there a particular seal that works better than others? When I inspected this one it was rather perished.
