Hiyas everyone~ I know I haven't been on here forever, but I have been reading the threads. Promise!! I found the car I bought here in the US as a lemon, within 24 months it had the following replaced:

Shocks/struts
Re-aligned 4 times
4 Tyres
Steering column
Dash board
Drivers window
Passenger door inside mechanism for the window
Driver seat

With that being said, I had to trade in but I still couldn't find a Lexus SC300 or SC400. Not one that was in any kind of decent condition. So I bought a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer. Its a 4 door, 5 speed, silver in color. But with the lemon I had, I had to trade in. What is everyone's thoughts on the Lancer?

Every Mitsubishi/Dodge that I have ever owned were lemons. Now not to say that the new Evo isn't bad ass! Are you up in South Dakota or San Diego now?

They are a good car Katrina and considering what you had previously just about anything would be an improvement on what you had.

they are not near the build quality of a soarer but then again not much is.

I think you have done well out of the situation.

If you want build quality, longevity and resale value then buy a Toyota. They are probably more expensive though.

Said that, the Lancer is not a bad car. Just not as solid.

The latest Lancer has been getting some outstanding reviews in the motoring press.

Being a new Mitsi it should do you well. Just get rid of it after 4 years/80,000km though, as most Mitsi's I've seen seem to start to fall to bits around that point.

Hey Katrina! Glad to hear you are still well!

Unfortunate about the car though.

Nothing wrong with a Prancer either. The new models come with some nice fluff!

I thought the negatives about Titsubishi cars are from the pre-mid 90's models? Where reliability on 3rd party parts was a huge issue? Have they not fixed this yet?

Well so far the car is doing ok, I just got it tonight and said farewell to thee when I left my Chevrolet LEMON at the dealership. I informed them of everything I had replaced, left the warranty work papers from the replaced parts.

The car starts nicely but the RPM's rev high naturally. Max hp is 152, which is ehh, I still my Soarer. And yes agree with the above, a toyota does have a possibly higher resale value, but here in the US the Mitsubishi's have had good luck in that area as well. The big parts epidemic was long enough ago and enough people went into jail time to make me feel at ease haha..

And no, I didn't get the Evo.. I couldn't afford the price tag of $40,000 USD.. as opposed to the $14,500 USD I paid for this one. Its got the standard stuff of power windows, A/C, CD&MP3 player. Windows get tinted in a week and the spoiler will come eventually. I feel bad being the bf wanted to be here to help work his "magic" at the dealership to get a better deal.. but alas he is in the desert, geez I miss him :-(

Have you guys heard any other reviews that I may be missing? I've heard good and bad; The car is heavier than previous years. But the warranty at 60,000 miles blows away most other make/models. Short front wheel base, and not much for options its a stand 4 cylinder 2.0 L no matter what model you get.

And oh yes, I'm in Rapid City South Dakota.. near the infamous Mount Rushmore and the edge of the Rocky Mountains.. not to exciting, but lots of windy hilly roads and beautiful scenery :-)

Alfa Romeo? Question, do they have anything similar to gap insurance in Australia? Its where if the vehicle is totaled this steps in and pays off the car at full value instead of current value.

You can insure cars for agreed values, however you pay an appropriate premium to go with it...

And Aaron there is nothing wrong with thems Lancers!

I guess insurance here and there are way different. We only get the option to insure the car for whats it worth currently. The gap insurance is a one time fee normally added to the loan of the vehicle when its bought of $300 or so. Can be added onto the loan of the vehicle but not bought through typical insurance.

And yes, I'm growing more fond of my Lancer.. kind of. I miss having only 2 doors
