Hey all, just thought I'd see if we have any musical talent amongst our soarer community. My principle instrument is the Piano, I played for about 9 years, did music for my TEE and graduated at a tier 7 level but had to give it up as I had a lot of outside commitments but can still sit down and play some stuff :-)

I used to watch my dad play guitar and for 10 years i've picked it up and had a strum here and there but now I want to get serious, have just bought a Jackson DK2L Left hand... Yes, im left handed and getting a left handed guitar that I like has been a nightmare and yeah also picking up a Line 6 combo in 4 weeks (hopefully).

After 9 years of Piano I learnt that the right teacher makes all the difference and am going to meet a few tutors next week to decide which one will be suited for me. Im pretty excited :-) No longer will I just be able to listen to my favourite bands now i'll be able to play all my favourite stuff.

Oh yeah, can also play a little drums and some clarinet. So yeah, fire away !!! :-)

Hi Ben, I have played blues harmonica in various bands over the last 20 years. I am just getting into singing which is something I have wanted to do for some time but felt I didn't have the skills.
Nothing quite like being on stage and having people moved by what is being performed.

I've played the drums for 14 yrs, played in all the top Jazz and Concert bands through my primary and high school days. Had a band for the first few years of uni, but now that we all have way more outside commitments we've basically stopped playing.

Still love playing though, and you'll always find me tapping something somewhere (much to everyone's annoyance, bloody drummers......lol!).

Callum, will defiantely let you know man, will depend on what you wanna play man... my interests might be different to yours but if we are looking roughly at the same thing we can maybe organise a discount if we both sign up... who knows ??

I've always loved my Classical music and thats what I learnt on Piano as its probably the most technical out of all styles (a lot will argue this tho) I'd keep playing Classical on guitar to develope my technique but in the end I wanna be able to play like Eric Johnson, Van Halen, Joe Satriani etc etc

I play flamenco guitar, and have a couple of electrics for shredding. Love my metal fast, heavy and thrash.

During my teens I played viola in symphony orchestras, and bagpipes with the Clan Macleod.

I also fart about with pianos and keyboards, something I'm practising to uitlise when I get out of uni and into the classroom.

I've played drums for 10+ years and dabble in recording and electronic music (lots of reason and pro tools). The band I'm currently in has done two national tour supports, a few East Coast runs, few trips to Radelaide and Melbourne and a lot around WA. We'll be doing a lot more again this year, including 10 shows in NZ in November. Tis hectic trying to fit it in with uni, work and other hobbies but well worth it.

My band's myspace:

(It's rather metal)

I have sitting next to my PC desk, My Marshall VS100R combo and Ibanez JS100 Electric, also have a JAckson Dinky XL USA pro series electric and a Yamaha 12 string acoustic.

Played in a band when i was younger, 3 piece, female vocalist.. Light pop rock was our thang. Was Great fun, did some recording and played around Sydney!

Although i love to play Metal and some Satch as well, Im extremely rusty and no where near as good as once was... I play it for fun now and then :-)

Music was a great escape, but once i got settled down, My best mate ( drummer ) moved to the ACT and is part of a very succesful band called " Using Three Words ", the SInger was married and expecting her 1st child, so it was then we parted and went our seperate ways... I still listen to our stuff every now and then..Memories./sigh :-)

I've been playing drums for about the last 8 years or so...
I use a brushed Metallic black Tama Superstar Hyperdrive, mix of Paiste / Zildjian cymbals and Iron Cobra hardware. Biggest gig I played was with a band about 4 years ago at Rod Laver Arena... we played two shows in the one day there, and even though it was only two songs each time it was seriously awesome.

My current band "the Wise Gents" have supported the likes of The Getaway Plan, Behind Crimson Eyes, The Vasco Era, The Spazzys and H-Block 101, we're actually going to start recording our new EP this weekend but you can have a listen to some stuff at
www.myspace.com/wisegents

All the tunes on the page were produced by ourselves, and are unmastered... not too bad for a $0 budget...

I mostly build copies of allot of classic Fender, Marshall, Vox etc amps but give them a few tweaks here and there or modify them for what the customer wants. I generally only build the amps, usually don't make speaker cabinets as it is too time consuming.

I have a few models of my own design that are in the prototype and testing phase at the moment, I am also working on getting a website made up but probably wont be up for a while yet
