| So out of the 5000 phone calls received there are 3000 alligators destroyed. Interesting figures. I feel if you are within a predators environment (and there's not a lot left) then you take your chances. It's unfortunate about the boy, but maybe he should have known better. |

Dude...he was only 11 years old...what did you know (if you can remember) at 11 years old, or at least think you knew???? I just think that was a crude comment. Everybody I knew at 11 was invencable, or at least they thought they were. Yeah you always hear the stories but you don't think that they can EVER happen to you...but ultimately you can become a statistic. I don't mean to rant to you, Mike, but this was a very unfortunate and tramatic event this family has to endure. EVERYBODY lives in a place that at one time was a predator's environment until civiliazed. I live only about 45 miles from Slidell, La. and hunt and fish this Bayou Paradise and know what to do and NOT what to do when encountering these "glorified Dragons", but they can be VERY elusive, (ie-look like a floating log) Nobody can ever prepare for what happens...only take care of your neighbors as they will take care of you. Cheers |

| Come on Dave, stop trying to steal all our animals, Australia is famous for dingos AND Crocodiles... Remember Steve Irwin. (I am well aware this was an Alligator attack, but just let me have this one please) |

| Dave, I was once 11 and I used to go onto an army firing range and knew exactly what I was doing. As I said, I feel for the kid and his family but I also care about animals which have had their environment taken away by humans. My other issue is that of revenge on an animal. What kind of FWit takes out their frustrations on an animal which is doing what animals do? It's a bit like in Australia when there is a shark attack. Let's go out and try to find the one that's responsible and kill it. Well, GFed all those that think that way, because I want people to think more and care for all creatures on this planet. |

| I understand how you feel about animals, Mike, but they had to get the boy's arm from the alligators belly to see if they could re-attatch it. I don't know of any alligators that will let you look in its belly, willingly. Plus we have soooo many alligators that when they get beyond 7-8 feet they can become a nuisanse, thus harvesting seems to be the way to control dangerous over populations. (kinda fun to hunt them)
