Death-defying police car chase at Eastern Creek

A HIGH speed police chase through Sydney has ended in a death-defying
crash with a man's car smashing into a telegraph pole and rolling
several times.

The man who was caught travelling up to 90km/h above a 60km/h speed
limit was miraculously unhurt when the police chase in Sydney's west
ended.

But his car crashed into a telegraph pole and flipping several times,
police say.

Police first saw the silver Toyota Soarer speeding at 172km/h in a
100km/h zone along the M4 motorway at Eastern Creek at about 8.45pm
(AEST) yesterday.

Attempts to stop the car were ignored, with the driver instead exiting
the motorway at Roper Road, St Clair and turning into Erskine Park Road,
they say.

Police began a pursuit along the road and into nearby Lenore Lane, where
the vehicle was caught travelling at 150km/h in a 60km/h zone.

At the end of the street the car collided with a telegraph pole and
flipped several times, but the driver was not injured.

The 29-year-old Blackett man was arrested at the scene and has been
charged with drive at a speed dangerous to the public, drive in a manner
dangerous to the public, not stop vehicle when directed and drive with
an unlicensed/expired license.

The man has been granted conditional bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local
Court on August 26

I read that this morning. It was apparently his sisters car.
I doubt she'll be impressed.
Lucky bugger though to walk away without a scratch

I bet he has a nice holiday at the taxpayers expense. The bars will spoil the view though.

What a tool. All that to avoid doubling his suspension time.

Doesn't look like he'll be getting his licence back any time soon at least.

Lucky driver to survive that crash.

But honestly what a tool, going 150 in a 60 zone.

What a car. I heard of the story and new that the guy would have walked away unscathed. Still the problem is that there are a lot of tools driving soarers these days.

It may have already happened. AAMI have whacked the price up of my greenslip from circa $380 to $627. The lame excuse they gave me is something to do with motor insurance history. Needless to say they have lost all my business.
It's tools like this moron who end up making all of us pay more and not just in insurance.

Well I'm 39 years old. In 20+ years of driving I have never made an at fault claim. I have only been booked 3 times for a grand total of 6 demerit points and I haven't been booked in the past 5 years. I think it's just AAMI getting greedy. Fancy that, a greedy insurance company.
The only Insurer in NSW who will give a decent quote is QBE...$390.

If this is a serious question then a greenslip is third party insurance. It covers any physical damage you may cause to other people but not property.

What an idiot, he would have to be looking at some jail time for that!

I am 21 and just got my greenslip from QBE was about $450 which I thought was pretty good considering my age.
