I really like the 1999-2001 Lexus GS300. I have had the opportunity to drive one and was disappointed with the performance.
Anyone had experience with getting this engine (SC300?) to go harder without turbos?

BFI and cat removal will make a bit of a difference, but Daniel pretty much said it. Its a 3 litre saloon though, and not bad for what it is. Try the Toyota Aristo - same car, but comes in a 2JZ-GTE RWD or 1UZ-FE 4WD model.

John, I looked at the info and it seems it would run out to a lot of dollars (Australian to American) plus importing, fitting, time etc.
Matthew, I am aware of the Aristo. Not too many about in the later models and the price difference between a non turbo and turbo of the same year is in the order of $8k-$10k. I can't see the justification for that.
I guess it's back to looking at the V35's.

Modded 2JZ-GE's on the Aussie Supra site are getting between 140-150rwkw... which is not far from similarly modded 1UZ's, the transition shouldn't be too difficult.

Most likely a rebadged Aristo Jordon - as far as I know there is no such thing as a turbocharged Lexus - they just don't make them.

Daniel is right except for its a 1998 model.
I have a Australian Lexus GS300 and got a half cut from Japan with the complete wiring loom.
As you have to replace the whole loom front to back. In Japan they have two models JZS-160 (NA) with a 5 speed auto same as the Lexus and the JZS-161 with the twin turbo vvti with a 4 speed auto.
I will have this car on the road in the next few weeks. As the engine is running and all is left to do is the trim inside the car.
Soon as I finish the car I will post some pictures.
Dan once I get my rego for the car I will be calling into your place for a chat!
