i need a spray painter, i have a black soarer, that the pervious owner painted black but its a really dodgy acrylic...its just doesnt look good (home job) lol so any cheap painters around here, i just want a coat of black and a few clear, so just black on black to make it look good.... i have been quoted for black on black 7 grand, 8 grand, and 10 grand for just black on black?....so anyone know what a usual black on black would cost?
Yeah, as i think Miles is trying to get at, most painters use 2Pak now days, so if you want it painted, all the dodgy acrylic has to be stripped off, else i believe it can have an effect with the 2Pak. The painting isn't the hard part, its the preperation. I painted my side skirts and the rear bomex pods with a compressor and gun, took a lot of practise and prep before i got it right. You will find a lot of the charge will be prep on the car.

yep , pretty much what everyone else has said, and black shows every imperpection. and the acrylic has to come off before it gets resprayed. or it will fry up under the 2pac, get some thinners and try wash the acryilc paint off, iff it comes off easy enuff then do the whole car. it mite be easyer to get a cheaper quote with the existing 2pac under the acrylic.

Not always has to be stripped off entirely, if the current finish is not to thick, then an isolater coat can be put over the sanded back arcrylic then the 2pk won't eat at it while it cures.
