Wow... the first hyundai thats actually buyable. (in my opinion anyway) :-)

my mums had 3 hyundais and they all start to fall apart around 100,000km's/5 years which is why thats all their warranty offers and they are so cheap. They are just very flimsy made cars.

There is quite a gap between a Hyundai and a Toyota though Tim.

But both are 'plagued' with being Asian cars.

Mike... I was just throwing the bait out and seeing how long it would stay on the water :-)

Hell, Hyundai came a long way in build quality when they stopped making the excel and replaced it with the Accent.. who's to say they havent done the same thing again with this vehicle.

Its a new market they are pushing themselves into... odds are they will want to be doing it right for it to work, after all, they would be well aware of their brand perception amongst the market they are targetting this vehicle to.

Wasn't that long ago most Australians were saying that about japanese cars.

I like it. At least someone has the balls to make what a lot of us want, small rear drive car that doesn't cost three times the average annual wage.

Just need to iron out that silly wrinkle along the waist line (after the window). Looks odd.

Yeah, I reckon the doors and the rear of the 1/4 panels could be a panelbeaters nightmare... have a look at the reflections from the grey one with all the 3's in the numberplate.

Imagine having to straighten that?

They commented on it in a news piece last year.

Clarkson noted how the kink in the rear 1/4 window after the door, was possibly due to the designer sneezing through a reaction after eating a sandwich with 'spaniel' in it.

Rather funny as usual :-)

Well, what have hyundai got to lose right? They have absolutely ZERO performance cred, ZERO race cred so I guess they CAN take the risk of being plastered with negative comments.

Like "why bother" and "its a frekin hyundai" and "while it definately looks sexy, its still hyundai".

Give em 10 years and they miught be able to build a sports car based on......sports.

They didn't rip off the 350z, they already had this shape back in 96 with the hyundai tiburon. The 350z didn't come into production till 2003.

Well that looks safe... anyway...

It does look good, and you can rubbish the brand all day but they keep winning awards for reliability and buyer satisfaction.

Every make needs to start somewhere, this could be the car that creates Hyundai's performance reputation.

There's a lot of hype and excitement about it, and the tuners are already on board by the looks of things. Could be a winner.

Curious what makes it a Death trap ??? Did you see the size of the concrete support that it hit !! I reckon it stood up well ( internally that is, except for the fact that as mentioned the Air bag didn't deploy !! bit of a worry hopefully they get that sorted for the Aus model's !!! ) ..

I am far from being a Korean car fan, but priced right that would be a top little car i reckon ..

That car handled the impact perfectly. Style looks great. Good luck to them. Years ago they had the marketing sense to put out the Xcel at $11,990 drive away and it put them on the map and made everyone else look at their pricing. This new car has come a long way since the escoupe and I wouldn't mind having one. I would probably get rid of the big "H" in the grill though

I agree totally with Ryan, Gary and Gary. Depending on how it handles and the rest of it, I would get one too. We used to have the FX coupe and it was quite zippy although it got a bit floaty at 200km per hour.
