I REALLY wanted to like this live show, but I was severely disappointed. Clarkson and Hammond trotted out tired jokes and 'ad-libs' ad nauseam. It cost me $120 each for my 14 year old son and I, and we were subjected to 20 minutes of ads, a Top Gear Australia ring-in (who invited HIM?!), motorbikes, a dodgy 3-D recreation of the gunship/Lotus Elise race, sponsorship by Audi followed by Clarkson berating all Audi drivers as 'cocks', simulated sodomy with a scrambler, and call me cynical if ANYBODY thinks that the cool wall and the 'crowd driving the Playstation car' were in any way influenced by the input by the audience I've got a bridge to sell you ......

I'm seeing it on Friday here in NZ,
The last couple of months Ive been expecting it to be exactly like you have said it to be! I saw some replays of other ones around the world and I was not impressed.
Still... it will be good to see those two characters in person.

Flew over to Sydney to see it on the Thursday last week and really had a blast. The Aussie guy was (surprise, surprise) but watching the Ferarri precision driving and I30 soccer was awesome and hilarious. The girl friend had a blast too, but my absolute highlight was during the cool wall when Clarkson ripped the out of this guy who owned a Ferarri 355 'nice perm, so your a hairdresser then....' The only thing that really pissed me off is that we didnt get to see the Stig just some crap '3D' helicopter and Lotus with a white thing in it.

I was SO tempted to go see this in Sydney, being a fan of the UK show, but $120 for a 75 minute show seemed a bit rich. There were about 6 identical shows over the whole week and I just thought it would be a bit over-rehearsed compared to the TV show.

I went on Sunday, It was awesome over-all and It was awesome seeing them two up close ( more or less ) but I have to agree some parts were disappointing.
The car ads were annoying and that woman dancing with the pole was a complete waste of time - also watching Ute's doing burn outs was silly for a Top Gear event, I could have went into the city to see bogens doing that on a friday night for free.
Hated the motorbike part, wasted like 30 minutes watching Frenchman going around in a ball..."who would like to see if we can fit a forth bike in!?" "not me..."
The Cool Wall was okay though. And yeah I just sat quietly as everyone screamed at the car on screen going around the top gear track...also that Australian Top Gear guy wasn't funny at all, I dislike him emencely.
Oh yeah! my worst part was when I went to play F1's on rFactor...I thought oh yeah cool I will have a go, I walked over and the guy operating the game saw me and says, "Oh think ya f***ing good huh? this game will show you up." I was thinking "Okay? calm down.." So I got on and had a whirl, didn't do too well, as I got off he then says "Haha 1:47? that only puts you half way up the board, that was f***ing pathetic!" I had no idea what his problem was, it was just a fun family event and his swearing at me? I didn't say anything...I just walked away.
But... over all it was pretty cool, lets just say I'm glad I went, once in a life time opportunity really!
But one of the best parts was being able to slide your hand along that Audi R8... can't do that at a car show, last year it was surrounded by glass!! hehe
Heres a few photos of my experience anyway me being a douche.
I would have worn the entire outfit if it wasn't a scorching 40 degrees. - the following day was a 20o and raining.

You have to give them credit though, they have to do a show 3 times a day over 5 days, that has to be annoying...I think they were a bit tired on the last day that I went
Then go overseas and do it again and again and again.

Exactly Kris... which kinda helps justify the ticket price I guess as you could just imagine what the liabiliy coverage for something like that would cost!

I read today that the three 'Ferraris' that were doing the drifting were in fact Toyota MR2's converted to look like Ferraris. I was wondering why the music was so loud and I couldn't hear the engines. What a con!

That would NOT surprise me.
I tried to hear their high revving V8 Sound but it was too hard with the loud music.
