The content of this site is Fantastic but I think it generally looks a bit old and could do with a few mods (like most Soarers!)
Anyone else agree or disagree?
Is Soarer Central in need of a Facelift?

I don't mind the forum as it is, it's functional and works fine. |

Agree 100% about the "Eye Candy", Just adding a couple of things as a Video and Image gallery (As suggested on another post and maybe just update the theme and Home page Pic would make a big difference. |

Yea i totally agree rob i reckon it needs different colours and better eye candy hah ha but definetly some new colours even a different pic of a soarer on the top of the main page. |

I like the functionality of the page but an image/video gallery would be fantastic and I agree that the banner could be updated. Certainly not dissing the moderators I think they all do a great job this place is a great resource. Harry for those who have issues with the 'camel toe' thread just don't go into it. If there is a feeling of angst against Adult material maybe a 18+ topic section could be introduced to avoid offending members |

It's good to see that there are not only advocates of change, but those willing to help out with that change. It's a bit like those that want cruises but never bother to organise one themselves.
Yes, I agree the guys running the show are doing a great job and my only gripe would be the slowness of some pages loading. Perhaps this is simply my server though.
I think also that an 'Adult Material' heading could be appropriate. |

* Replace/Remove Eye Candy (maybe replace with Members Cars or Just Soarer Pics).
* Update pics and possibly Banner.
* Add Video and Photo Gallery.
*Maybe a small pic of Members car under the User Profile summary on Left of page.
*Update page theme. (I think there is enough FSG green. }
*Allocating an area for 18+ material (Is it really necessary the internet is full of the stuff?) |

keep it all, just update, and would be good if you could archive in the for sale thread, i really hate going to the bottom of like 60+ post for the bigger threads, same goes for all threads should be able to archive them.
and add a ( new thread) button at the top of page. not down the bottom, really annoying having to scroll to the bottom, to post a new thread.. or is there another way people? |

I like the way it is... But the eye candy should be of forum members cars! Smut can be seen on other site's.... This is a forum of all age's and the camel toe thread and the eye candy(Don't get me wrong as sometimes it's nice to look at but really it's not needed) is a little over the top for the younger group.. To move the adult content to a 18+ section would be better... And the eye candy corner renamed as "Hot soarer's" or "World of soarers" Something like that...
The top banner is old and dated... So a change with that would be nice but I do understand that it takes time to change that as my mother(Di smith) had her hand in this.. So I know the work involved to change it.. |

I remember back in '05 the Eye Candy was totally pornographic. I had my own office at the time so it wasn't a problem but we have gone open plan office since then, so I'm kinda glad its a lot tamer than it was. |

We don't need a big upgrade, just a few things changed would be nice.
Most people want eyecandy updated or changed,
as a few other things, but the forum does work well, a little tweaking here and there would be even more beneficial I reckon! |

Honestly I love the site but I think it looks extremely dated. The colours and banner are in desperate need of a freshen up. Something I've been wondering for a while is why SC is not a vBulletin based forum (like most other forums), is this because it would cost too much to run? |

Hmmmm, yes, well, all valid points gentlemen.
But it is up to Peter as site owner & operator to make changes as he sees fit.
I PERSONALLY have no problem with the site as it is, but I'm an old fart, so am easily pleased 
I would just suggest that a certain amount of circumspection is employed here, as Peter hosts the site totally out of his OWN pocket because he is a true Soarer enthusiast, and is NOT doing it to make a buck (I realise that no one is even remotely implying this!).
The V bulletin program IS good, but expensive to host (compared with Discus), so isn't an option.
It has been mooted at some stage that the site becomes an "Earner", as in; folks pay membership fee, but that is not what Peter wants.............He simply wants to provide a Forum at NO cost to the users, to provide a platform for the free exchange of idea's and stuff for the Soarer (and related Toyota's) enthusiast.
So far, I think he is doing a TOP job.
ps; Peter works full time as an ISP, and has limited time to devote to SC, family etc........But he is always interested in feedback as regards the site, and content therein |

Actually, cost of VB isn't really an issue either, I just prefer Discus for various reasons that have been discussed before.
As some of you will know from having read the thread, I have been recovering from bowel cancer surgery, and I still don't quite have all my energy back yet. Things have also been very busy with work, but hopefully will all settle down shortly and I can get caught up with stuff.
I don't mind doing minor makeovers, SC is about the content though, and fast and easy delivery of such, which is why I haven't added avatars, lets face it, the same pic for every post gets old really fast. |

This forum does as you state very well Peter, and thank you for the work you put in(I'm sure everyone else thanks you too), it's great here!
Vbulletin is average if you ask me, this site works, and with a spruce up would be absolute tops.
If you would like assistance ask for it, I am happy to oblige, anything to help(including donations, even though you may scoff at that suggestion haha!)
Have a think about it, and best wishes with your recovery-my uncle had the same, it was rather taxing on him. |

I think the content is great, its easy to use and navigate, it just looks outdated. I think the pics/avatars under the user name would just add a little bit more Character to the pages and brighten them up a bit.

Not as old as the Eye candy, half of them would be well into there 60's by now.
But thanks for Providing such a great resource for all Soarer owners and all the best with the recovery.
Maybe some of the members that are good with Photoshop could post a couple of banner replacements up for a vote and save you the work. |

Search works (when people actually use the subject as a topic heading)
Eye candy- umm, yeah some of them are a bit old. I like the girls, but do see the merit of having members cars rotate through there as well. |

Personally... the way I see it is that its Peters Forum and we are all guests to it... so thanks again Peter (and I wish you a speedy recovery!)
If feedback is being sought however, the points I agree on are:
- updating banner / colour scheme
- replacing eye candy with soarer candy / members vehicles
- avatars (whilst images may get 'old', it is a very handy tool for remembering who is who) |

This is just a quick one i did up. I can do a much better one if its going to be used. its did do it to the same dimensions as the current banner but it exceeded the maximum 800x so its a little smaller.
