Hey Muzzy, yeah I know a fair bit about it, one would hope. I just bought a 99 Series 2 black on black triptronic legnum. Man I love it and sad as it sounds I believe it may just be on par or better in performance than my turbo vvti. Very nice cars and sexiest wagon you will find. Apparently the transmissions are weak as on the auto's. Go to for more info http://ozvr4.com/forums/ Just like SC.

They are seriously fast.
Of course they are Mitsi's, so are bottom of the heap on the Japanese car reliability table. Doesn't mean they aren't reliable, just not AS reliable as Nissans, Mazdas, Toyotas etc. Plus Mitsubishi/Fuso motors are murdering scumbags & these cars were made around the time they deliberately covered up recallable defects in their vehicles and cost several peoples lives because of it.

Toyota > Nissan > Mazda > everything else
Mitsubishi is somewhere down the bottom of the list. The only half decent mitsubishi is the evo, the rest are rubbish. I'm sure they're good fun, why not just get a Caldina TT wagon? Same kind of thing 2L TT AWD. Use the GT4 engine i think, 3sgt or something

Thats the ugliest magna I have ever seen. The twin turbo setup is junk: yout think CT12's are small? hehehehe
There is a stock turbo moderately modified one up here in darwin, ran 13.3 with a heap of bolton mods. Ugly as sin. Tiny inside. C*nt to work on. Overpriced.

Oi Muzzy,
If you want something that is a bit different get a 97 - 2000 GTO.
NOT as bad as they're cracked up to be, and quite exclusive.
The VR4 Legnum wagons ARE fast (in manual form), but common as dogs bollocks, and depreciate faster than Wall Street shares.
The going rate for one over here in NZ, is around the $6.5k mark.
Known problems with Sedan or Wagon is, the rear diff can pop on em, which is A: Annoying, and B: Expensive..........Think $700(NZD) - $1300(NZD to replace...........PLUS, you have to use the special oil available ONLY from Mitsubishi @ around $58(NZD) per liter for the center part of the diff!.
Compared to an HQ Holden, they are a trifle complex to work on, but no more so than any of the recent crop of FWD Japanese offerings.
IF you get a top example to begin with (as opposed to some flogged out crapbox, with a rewound speedo!), they are a rewarding vehicle to own, and are very quick.

buy a magna and supercharge it
i used to own this...
it was a 2003 Magna 3.5L awd 5spd auto, yes factory all wheel drive (evo driveline is used other than the engine) manual trannie not possible though
anyway was 3.5L V6 factory awd 5spd auto rear limo diff, put on a s/c and made 175kw at all 4's (20's) with 40deg inlet temps in hot dynocell after 6hrs on a conservitave tune non intercooled on 6.47psi boost....
but i popped the engine... oops... still dragged off a 5.0L commy running on 4.5ish cyls lol... i went ok... there is a dude in syd with a fwd manual into the mid/high ish 12's now in street trim, plenty fast enough and cheap big luxurious cars... very under rated!
i was going to buy another and do it all again, but the soarer has more fruit and the V8... if i still have it when i sell my new car i'll no doubt put a s/c on the soarer too.

Was looking at getting one before I got my Soarer. Gotta say I love the Legnum, but changed my mind due to those bad gearbox's and diff's...they f***ing hammer though A mate of mine has one and it's awesomely fast. Love the Chaser's too (GREAT sleeper hehehe) All in all some good choices if you want my 2 cents!
P.S. - I'm with you Ben. Nissan reliability = FAIL! hahaha
