Why is it that people want to sell parts but then they dont want to ship them to the us? I have tried to buy several items on here and i get the same response every time, want to sell nationally or dont want to ship to the us. WTH?

because its a pita it very easy for someone to come over give you coin and everyone is happy, same thing to ship something to the otherside of aus is easy and pain free international shipping is a pita, and not that cheap either it's the same for us when we want stuff outta the states and some shops etc.. dont ship internationally, australians work the longest hours in the world and on our very limited free time cbf with customs decs and looking for the cheapest shipping, if i said i'd ship a tape deck to the US bit it will take 3-4weeks and cost 150aud you'd want a better deal... like i said it's a pita

PITA? How? Shipping overseas is not hard at all. The cost does not matter because it belongs to the customer, and when I have done it I have asked them if they have a preferred method, or emailed the straightforward costs as I see them and let them choose. If they want to shop for the best shipping deal other than the obvious carriers, that is their responsibility to specify to me. It is dealing with Customs on import that is a bit of a pain but you soon get the routine anyway, but that has nothing at all to do with shipping parcels overseas. I think Alson asks a good question and think the negative answer is only the cbf part, same as it has been for some american suppliers.

I lived in Brussels for 12 months and i can tell you we DO NOT work the longest hours in the world. That SMH article gloats about us grinding 9 to 5 days with no breaks. Most people i know in Brussels/Belgium work from 8am to 6.30pm which includes a 1 hour lunch break (on site) and thats monday to friday. Getting back to the first post. It also works both ways. I too have not had anyone in the states willing to ship a single thing to me in Australia. Most dont even bother getting a freight cost. International postage is easy and all you need is your ID to send. If the sender doesnt want to provide their ID then perhaps they're doing something dodgy.

Michael, 8-6.30 was for staff working in the European Parliament. I worked in a bar over there and worked from 6pm - 5.30am 2 times a week, no break. That sucked

thats was the link to the story, just a general statement, no need for argument there was a study done and there were findings that we do in fact work more then most... i myself havent had any leave in over 5years now... next weekend is the 1st time in over 5 years that i'm going to be on holidays.. there are office people that work 90hr weeks etc... but think about it as a whole not just people you know... i know in France they dont work like we do here thats for sure... me to be honest, i attend work for many hours... and attend is pretty much all we do do ;)

I've worked in a lot of countries and I would have to say we're in the bottom third for working hard. That article is a joke. Standard in Australia is 4 weeks paid holidays plus 2 weeks of paid public holidays plus a week of paid sick leave. That's 7 weeks of the year we already don't work. Very few countries get that. Not to mention all the other BS things like "carers leave". Australians used to work hard.. not any more.

International freight from the US is very expensive not sure why but it is. International freight from Australia to the US isn't too bad and for a regularly sized packaged can be done through your local post office. It really isn't a big deal and isn't stupidly expensive. I would say this is just a case of some people CBF.

Miles I totally agree with you. Damian is correct but spare a thought for Japan. Japan would have to be the most expensive. I was quoted AU$100 sea freight(cheapest) to send 2 HyperRev books to Perth from Tokyo.

Luxury David Luxury, Back in my day we used live in pothole in the middle of the road and get fed nothing but cold gravel for breakfast. Go to school while it was dark be flogged by the teacher with a leather belt for 3 hours, then work in the coal mine for 30 hours a day 8 days a week. when we cam home if our father was in a good mood we'd 'ave our arms chopped off then sewn back on if he was in a bad mood he'd chop 'em off and feed them to us for dinner.....those were the days.....

i dont want to sell my parts to someone in the US. my post for sale states that I want $400 + a set of standard springs and shocks for my coilovers. Im not going to be paying any type of shipping cost for you to send me your springs and shocks, and I'm sure you couldnt be without any front suspension while you wait for those to get to me, and for me to post out the coilovers. id be fine selling you something if it was small and easy, or even if the coilovers were just sitting in my garage, but i need more than just money for the transaction to be done.
