The thing is Ben, these managers/coaches are ex footy guys usually and it probably went on just as much in their days but like in the old days of Hollywood it was hushed up.

i actually feel for her. i think she did a stupid thing and they did something equally or more stupid. she was obviously not in a position to take control. look at the law, case law or legislation it doesnt really take into account the whims of everyone making a complaint. nor should it. personal responsibility is very important. these are societal concerns, but marginalising a bunch of stupid footballers cause they are high on testosterone misses the point. Saying that women are always or often victims of men similarly misses the point. Human behaviour is sometimes not to everyones liking. behaviour such as lust, revenge etc.

There's wrong on BOTH accounts. But seriously... she fcuked footy players... what was she expecting them to be, complete gentlemen of the highest calibre?? Thats like following a dog into its kennel and expecting not to walk out with fleas the next morning. She would have been better of laying still and playing dead... thrashing about only attracts more sharks

That may be why there wasn't a scream of "no"? I never thought I'd read David type "next moment you get a dildo up the arse".

I don't know that its true that "footy players aren't too smart" - actually the two ex regional rep players I know are both very smart, very wise individuals who have done exceptionally well for themselves after their sports cariers ended (but who knows what they were like 20 years ago when they were at the top?) I think its more that they are young and famous and told they are superheros etc, exposed to a culture that encourages binge drinking and displays of machoism, bringing on inflated egos resulting in poor behaviour.

When I was a kid, players couldn't make a living just by being AFL (VFL) players. They all had day jobs and had to be pretty decent at them to be able to juggle training and playing as well. This crap still went on, just was less prevalent from what I understand.

Or she enjoyed it and only realised 7days later after all the gloating that she did, that she some how regretted it and wanted to make money. Just a reminder no reports have come out and said she was raped, she just happened to regret being involved in group sex. |

So, Shane? In what respect is regret wrong? I notice also that you assert she was still "gloating" (your word, nobody else's) about it two or three days after she had already taken it to the police, so I take it you were giving us your considered and unbiasssed view. Those like Shane who believe she "changed her mind for money" will presumably admire the cunning planning involved in making several suicide attempts in the intervening years for no other purpose than to make her story more plausible and thus get more money ... from the ABC. After all, the ABC is such a good payer for stories compared with Channel 9, who interviewed her foes on behalf of their employee.

Actually its been in all the news report that she gloated about sleeping with all the players, thats where i got it from. I didnt make it up its just what ive heard in reports. |

quite often these 'reports' can just as easily be made up themselves dont ever let the truth get in the way of a good story... after all, stories sell.. the truth on the other hand, doesnt always share the same success

I am right, Mike, although you may be misled by an American dictionary. These days, the latter is also accepted in Oz. Shane, the only news references I can find to "gloat" are in every case attributed to the owner of the pub, whose testimony is by many regarded as utterly self-serving in his attempts to keep football teams coming back. Group travel bookings by wealthy or company-sponsored drinkers tend to be highly profitable for hotels, while he has no stake at all in the welfare of a minor former employee. Meanwhile, any answer to my query about regret, or consideration of the other little issues I raised with your post?

David, im not sure what you mean about Regret??? It isnt wrong to regret something you did if thats what your asking me? She may regret doing what she did, but why should footballers names be dragged through the mud when at the time from all reports we can go on, she consented to it.

It's because these guys are "supposed" to be role models for kids and whether they like it or not are public figures. Whether the woman was consenting or not it is a low act & anyone that tries to justify it in any way should have a good hard look at themselves. |

Fair enough call Jeff i can agree with that, they are role models and should not put themselves in a position where its gonna let the kids down. I still think what happened shouldnt effect the career of matty johns, its not illegal to have sex or group sex unless she didnt consent, there is alot worse that footballers have done and still been allowed to play.

Yes but where do you draw the line? How many other times has he done it, only this once, yeah sure? It probably started long before he began playing NRL. TV is all about ratings, if you offend enough ppl they go down. I thought the John's brothers were wankers before this started and this only reinforces that opinion, now I am sure lots of others think the same and change the channel when the footy show comes on.

Im sure this type of thing happens on a regular basis and has been happening for many many years with all sporting identies. Not just from Rugby League. Im sure there are lots who dislike him now, but there is still alot of people who think he should be back on the footy show.
