How many places do you visit, spend $500.00 per hour and not even know what your paying for? I have been to the dentist today and it cost me $425.00. I was there for around 45 minutes. I know I was having root canal work, but have no idea what is involved in the process When I asked the dentist his opinion when he said I could have the tooth out or spend $1200.00 to have it fixed, he declined to give an opinion as he said it was up to me. Yes, I know that, but information is always valuable to help in decision making. So after that I was not inclined to ask anything and just get on with it. One more visit to go and it will all be finished and at least I will have the knowledge that I might have that tooth till I die.

Same with my wife, root canal only lasted a couple of years and in the end she had the tooth removed and a perminent bridge installed which was only $1800 and looks so much better than the old tooth did! Would have saved over $1000 to just get the tooth out and put the bridge in straight away!

My dentist always gives an opinion. That's why I go to her. In my line of work I know what I am doing so when people ask me "what would you do?" I always have an answer for them, and it's always the right one. I expect the same out of somebody cutting my body. Half of the asshats I work with give people that "it's your choice" crap because they want to lead them down the dodgy path without explicitly recommending it. I don't. A lot of the time I recommend against a path that would provide me with more income if it's not right. My dentist does the same. When I recognise the way I operate in people I employ, it's a good sign to me.
