When I hear both men and women say 'he' when referring to say a croc, spider, or anything which is deemed aggressive or harmful. I see it happening often on TV and in my daily life. These people don't know what sex it is, but automatically it's male if it's not cute and cuddly. It's so easy to call something 'it' without implying judgement or offending males like myself. 'Too sensitive' some would say, but I'm jack of being male bashed.

I don't think I've heard people referring to nasty things a 'he' - I've always said 'it' But its just the same when guys refer to cars or other objects, its always a "she".. but I'm not complaining

I see it this way, We've come a long way since there wasn't equality of sexes, I'm totally up for chivalry, and am personally very chivalrous. But I can understand sometimes it gets hard to understand! This is the way I see it, Men and women should be 100% equal, but men should respect women, and be chivalrous. But what irritates me, is the rules where people think its ok to hit a guy, but A guy could never hit a girl back (Personally I think, If a chick hits a guy, she has taken that choice, and if she gets hit back then she had it coming!) And as far as jobs / wages go, equality is the answer, but also fairness. I know at my work, I have to lift things for the girls all the time, and that wouldn't bother me, but my job is harder than it is for the girls, but they get paid the exact amount. That's my 2 cents ;)

Ben, thank you. I think you are right and I would like to come and stay at your place while I go gold prospecting in W.A. Tim, I find subtle things in life often have huge ramifications and I care about how all people and animals are treated. By the way, I've been smiling more than ever lately.

oh mike we actually agree on something! male bashing is too prevalent these days. think of ads and movies which always show the male as a bumbling fool while the woman is the heroine.

Not always. Cyclones ae pretty aggressive. They were named after women only for decades. Still are in Austraia i think.... |
