Last weekend, the Vic uni SAE car was stolen from Kilsyth. This was suppost to be entered into the SAE comp in Dec.
For people who don't know, SAE is a 4th year Mechanical engineering project where the team builds a race car to race against other universities around the country. This is a heart break for the team as we were coming along very well and looking forward to the coming competition.
Recent word is that the trailer has been found however the car and everything is missing. If anyone has possible information about the car it would be fantastic. There is some good parts that can be sold so if you happen to find say a Motec 400 ECU for sale, can you please let me know as it may be part of our car.
Any help with this situation would be fantastic.

Thats a really tough break, hope you find who took it. SAE sounds like awesome fun I'm trying to get ANU to let us enter next year as they cancelled all funding and removed our workshop for no apparent reason...

Well apparently the place at Kilsyth doesn't have CCTV. I could be wrong. It's either it doesn't have CCTV or it wasn't pointed in the right direction. So we were really unlucky.

Any chance it was someone that knew about the car and lack of CCTV rather than just random bad luck? Presumably they came prepared, had a car trailer etc.

That's a theory. We are still not sure but the Police are looking into everything. There is word that one of the shops may have some footage. Apparently, it shows it happenning at 8.31pm on Saturday. Not sure if it shows number plates on the tow car, or faces of the people doing it. However I don't think it has been looked at carefully. We shall see what the Police say. So now that the car is stolen, we are now looking at making a new one in 2 months. It seems like it going to be close but we are confident that we will have it done and tested. We just hope that the uni will be able to give us the money that we need. So if we do get the money, I was wondering if anyone here knows places/people who would be able to help manufacture parts for our car. It looks like we are going to be ok with the frame and the hubs, so we are needed of a someone who can make a carbon fibre restrictor and plenum and possibly a carbon fibre defuser. We have the molds of both so it's just a matter to making the parts. If anyone can help that would be fantastic
