As the title say's, where did it go?

On my way to work the past couple of weeks I have now twice encountered some A$$hole that does not want to give way to me and has hurled abuse as well from not letting me in after having the road go from two lanes down to one forcing me to cut in despite indicating longer than necessary. I don't know if he didn't see me un till last minute but seriously, does that mean he has to blast the horn for the next 100 meter's as well as high beam me and tailgate me, then as I turn off towards work pull up along side me pulling the fingers and shouting obscenities?

Also just yesterday on my way home from work while only down the road from home, I was traveling down a narrow street that with cars parked either side of the road, there is not enough room for two cars to squeeze past one another, so I stop and wait for some one to reverse out of their drive way as they had no idea I was coming along the road I had noticed them therefore pulled aside to let them out and get passed me. After doing so there was no acknowledgement or any thing. No wave, flick of the high beams, indicators or hazards, nothing at all.

Seriously I am beginning to wonder what this world is coming to, after all I am waiting for the 6 months it takes un till you can go for another class of licence so I can get my class 4 that allows me to drive heavy trucks as I would like to go trucking but after realising what idiots I share the road with, I am beginning to re think my carer choice....

You'll probably get more respect in a big rig.
It is nice to have acknowledgement however for something you have done for someone else. As I've said before, sometimes it's the little things that add up.

I hear what your saying James.

Plenty of inconsiderate and ignorant drivers about, especially in Auckland... where the majority of the population is a very unsophisticated bunch.

I do get a fair share of good drivers that flash and wave too, but more ignorant ones to be honest.

Sad really... as at the end of the day these people have their heads so far up their arse when driving it means they have no interest in driving, so if they have no interest in driving then by logic they aren't very good at it... increasing the risk of them smashing into our prides and joy.

My greatest fear!

Well as with said tail-gater, had I been in my old ute or have full comprehensive insurance he would have to be facing a charge of careless driving after I lock up my brakes so he would plow into me, so as I said the only thing stopping me was the fact that I don't have full compo and also I love my car too much to do some thing like that to it.

I dont understand all the agro people seem to like putting themselves and others through on the roads.
On ALL roads , no matter what state or territory you are driving in (even those ones over in NZ that belong to AUS hehe)

People really need to get over it , relax and not bother with it all. Its really sad actually to hear about d1cks and their road rage . A couple of my friends carry on like chumps and i refuse to drive with them now.

Ever since i got back from doing a tour of duty in Iraq, ive learned that there is more to life and if you are getting cranky over some trivial matter perhaps you should do the world a favour and suicide.

James,

Sounds like a saturday or a sunday down here in Melbourne Victoria.

Last time I had this driver in front of me wiping his windscreen with a cloth on his brand new mercedes as the traffic lights had turned green.

Then I gave way to several people when there is a parked car on the side of the street, they never wave "thanks"

Continuing on from your op, James, when travelling on highways/freeways why do people find it so hard to allow space for you to merge lanes in order to exit or prepare to exit?
Countless times have i sat in a position where there is physically enough room for me to merge lanes but not enough to do it safely. No matter how long i stay in the position indicating the person wont drop back to extend the gap. It must be worth less than half a second of distance at 100kph but they still refuse to budge?!

I usually end up having to slow down and allow the traffic in the left lane to pass before i can get over, all the while keeping the indicator on. Of course there are also idiots who were behind me who know think that its a perfect opportunity to merge in to the new formed gap and accelerate past me.

HOLY PEOPLE CANT YOU BE MORE AWARE OF WHAT THE TRAFFIC AROUND YOU IS DOING?!

Its quite funny you know. The cars the ignorant people drive are just standard, the cars the arrogant people drive are luxury and the cars that people who are actually good on the road are the modified/sports drivers...

I mean this is a grand generalisation. But I find the most common cars that cut me off/try and merge into me (from the back half of the car)and dont say thank you are Jazz, getz, smart, echo drivers.

Sometimes I feel like I am invisible though the cars I drive are loud enough to be noticed by anyone. That's my whine for the day.

On that note. I love it when another loud car comes next to me and they are in a harmony of sorts. makes me smile.

Well, said a$$ hole drive's a silver Primera wagon and the left front headlight is out so yesterday I saw him trying to catch up to me for round 3!

What i did is ended up turning down a side street and doing a bit of a loop back around so he would be well gone.

Must have real anger issues as I am 100% certain it was him again trying to catch up to me again as he turns out of another street onto the one I am already on, biggest give away is the headlight that is out which allowed me enough time to come up with a plan on loosing him.

Boy, to be in a boxing ring with him.....

It's the whole reason why my Daily drive is a Raised Hilux, reasonable bull bar and a decent tow bar. Spotties are at head height for most cars as well. I stress so much less these days, just push my way into the gap the person should be making. Most people get out of the way, but I do get a kick out of the little buzz boxes that try and fight back, I just laugh and continue to merge, they could fit under the old girl.

If you are merging like a zip (as the signs say in NZ) then that is fine, Leon.

Too many drivers of "small trucks for fat people" come to believe they are entitled to any place they wish to go, and also pay no regard to the effect they have on other drivers' vision of events, while shambling along like the slow sheep they are.

I am with Leon I love driving my old 70's F100 whatever does not give way or cuts you off you just pick out of the grill at your earliest convenience .
The only other car that I have ever had that with was a old Leyland P76 I had as a tow car for a while. All you needed to do was grin and then start moving and people would get the hell out the way. It was most likely due to the fact that they figured you had to be a little bit mentally challenged to own a P76 in the first place.

If GM could improve their build quality performance and level of standard equipment from the Chevy I already have I might think about it but as they have not made them any better since 1927 I think I will have to pass.

The P76 was great car it had the worlds first inbuilt car park generator. When you could not find a park you simply pulled up in a close by spot, lifted the bonnet and walked away. No body would look twice and I never had a parking ticket in the 2 and a 1/2 years I owned it.
Everybody just figured it was a P76 in its natural habitat

Totally agree on QLD drivers... why the state that has the best weather and beaches is filled with the most backward smallminded fcukwits is a mystery of natural phenomina... perhaps all the vitamin d from the sunlight has a detrimental side-effect to the subjects intelligence quotient... as evidenced by the fact that the further north you travel, the darker the shade of crimson becomes on the neck of its inhabitants.

WA people have no concept of how to operate a freeway. Being polite and attempting to zipper properly was making me angry every day, now I just cruise up the left lane at a similar pace to the lane beside, pick my gap and make sure it's available. It pisses off the people behind me, because they all want to rush to the front of the queue, which the only thing that achieves is to bring the freeway to a complete halt, my method tends to unclog it and get the lanes moving again.

Why not wait for him to catch up, see if he still has anything to say, and if he does, pull over and see if he'd like to discuss it face to face. Being that he's driving a Primera wagon its pretty unlikely he'll pull a gun or a knife on you, more likely a rattle or a highchair. Just make sure you let him throw the first punch if he's heading that way,so you can claim self defence later. Otherwise you can at least point out that you were indicating and that he was therefore acting like a dick for not letting you in.

I've used this tactic a couple of times, and they have always driven right on past never to be heard from again, so its never even gotten to the trading blows point.

Ryan, every time I have driven in Sydney, I have actually noticed an improvement in driving. Whilst people down there may be maniacs... at least they are predictable.

In Qld, indicators are optional extras on vehicles. Right hand lanes are just another lane where you can travel the same slow arsed speed as the person to your left, Merging requires that you must ignore all traffic openings until the lane is closed, upon which time you must come to a near complete stop to try force over, and roundabouts are an iq test which most residents consistantly fail at.

To add irony to insult, Peter Beattie then labelled this place the Smart State... hmm.. yes!
