I have recently heard that on the 1st or 31st of Jan 2006 they are banning all P Plater's drive from Forced Induction cars, as you must be on your opens to drive one. i not so lucky if they bring this law in as i will have to drive the ford for a month.

Qld Transport have a discussion paper out about changes to young drivers licensing. Feedback is due by 10 march 06. If they change anything before that, it would be a little rude.... http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/youngdrivers The "young driver's discussion paper"pdf section 21 covers those sorts of changes.

Damm good idea, I wonder why it took so long. They should have an advanced driver class so that people that think they can handle the power can apply sooner.

Yeah, the VW Passat turbocharged 2-litre I recently drove was a real rip-snorting....................................................................diesel.

It's interesting if you do read the The "young driver's discussion paper"pdf section 21, as it quotes this....
"As mentioned previously in this paper common contributing factors in provisional driver crashes are inexperience, alcohol and speed. Young driver crashes in Queensland occur in all vehicles and there is no evidence that the power of the vehicle can be attributed to an increased crash risk."
Very unusual that anything written down and distributed by a Transport Department, would state that sort of information. Strange!!

Guys this is already in effect in NSW, there are loop holes yes for New South Welshman like if it's the only car the family owns which happens to be a turbo'd car it's ok need to pay for that though, if it's a company car it's ok as well apparently to. Does not effect those who already have there P's only those who are going from there L's to there p's.
You also aren't able to drive a V8 or over, and no modifications are to be done. So in other words here come more ricers....
But when reading the newspaper a couple of months back now, your not allowed to drive a boosted CHARADE, but a honda S2000 was ok.... And that charade was pumping out a huge 100hp at the wheels to I think.
Well that's the RTA for you. Nothing to really worry about unless your on your L's in which case pull your finger out and get your p's before it comes into effect. If it's up for revision in march then chances are it'll come into effect mid year at the end of June.

doesn't make a difference if you restrict high powered cars as much. my friend just died in a car accident in villawood and the car was a nonturbo Front wheel drive piece of i just reckon they should give out driving lessons to teach new drivers on how to drive properly and handle various conditions. no matter what i guess new drivers will speed.
