Well I have to say that Malaysia is one of my best loved countrys, Sorry but it knocks spots off Australia any day.
When you concider that you can eat out, catch a taxi, and buy things till your arms drop off and still have change in your pocket it makes you wonder why things in the western world have to cost so much. Even the Network coverage wins hands down over the laim Telstra effort, and with so many additional services offered by the carriers at a fraction of the cost once again I find myself scratching my head asking why.. Why?
Oh well I guess there is more things to do here than wonder why and most of the time is spent soaking up the sun, relaxing at a corner shop sipping on the "Milo Ice" and walking round being greated by the locals. Actually I have spent so much time over here in the last few years it is like a second home. Ahh the joys of being free and single.
And thats another thing I notice, even when you go to the shops and spend money the people that serve you are HAPPY to do so, and GRATEFUL that you have spent money with them and supported the economy. When was the last time that happened in Sydney. ? Most of the time people in Aus are to busy trying to work out how to get more money from you with less service.
But then again they don't have wars to fight and fat beurucrats to feed with expence accounts that equal the national debt.
Strict laws that are in place are adheared to without confusion, like if your caught with drugs you will Die. Top stuff, better that the wishey washey laws that seem to be bent or broken on the chance that someone is having a good or bad day. You do it wrong and your mother gets to take home the ashes, a better result than some sports !
Anyway enough of my pleasure, Hows your day ?
NZ from above (the closest I want to get these days).
KL and the famous Twin Towers.
Just outside IPOH. Old Communist hideout now a wonderfull place to chill.
Greetings !
A few people lost over the edge but then, did it matter?
A picture can tell a million words but never in focus.
Ahh,,, look at the pretty flower basking in the 32c heat. Even the flowers are happy.
The only Pot that wont get you killed, or a good resting place for someone perhaps.

I'm not leaving these shores and no ones ever going to convince me to!! And by the way, if you think those veiws aren't available right here then you are dreaming!!!! Also, you are the one running Australia down. What sort of response do you expect

Excuse me while I laugh my head off.
If you think I have not seen great views of Australia then you must think my eyes are as closed as yours. But you tend to find that Australia is full of Australians. With very sheltered experiences. Not that that is a bad thing, it is different and that is what makes each country unique. Sure I guess that you have seen other places on Video and TV so why do you need to visit them. 100% aggree. Why bother.
Your right I should not expect a humane responce to an opinion. The fact that you have not traveled (by your words) can only explain a lot. This belief that Australia is the best country in the world is getting very close to the percieved view of the Americans. (and no offence is directed at them either).
Graham, you have your own opinions and I respect that, and would not want to change the way that you feel, I know a few people in Australia that think the same way and are the way they are because of it. Not to say they are good or bad or saine or crazy, just the way they are.
Hey who cares, like I said I am not trying to convince anyone to leave and live here.
I only make the refference to Australia as thats where I have spent the last 10 years and therefore am in a good position to give my opinion of the differences I notice. I don't think I was running it down but I guess that aussies are a little sensative about comments. I'll keep that in mind next time I open my mind.
Sure, I know lots of people that are happy to be stiffed by their suppliers of services and never complain about overcharging or poor service or featureless functions offered. Even happier to accept all the parking control, Tolls, Speeding fines and what ever else is on the list.
Hey lets have a SMS poll Send Yes or NO to 1900-01010101 if you think that SMS voting is a rip off. You get a free ring tone and it will only cost you $5 a week for the rest of your life. But then I guess I have my own opinion about that too and should be placed against the wall with the rest of the crazy people.
Oh I could go on forever on this one but some of the words I would use may not be understood and so I guess I should KISS.
I guess I should have stuck to the silly jokes made by someone else and fed to the sheep.

One thing I do agree on, is that there is very little morality in business these days - especially big business. But that is probably a bit of a global issue.

Steve, your post may be a little free-wheeling considering that religion, politics and TT vs V8 abuse are nominally banned topics on the forum.
I understand how easy it is to enjoy a country where people subsist on lower service wages and consequently are keen to make favour but is not that something of a political topic? Killing people for revenge or convenience also has its appeal I am sure, but I am not clear how that is a non-political topic either, while bagging Graham for enjoying where he lives seems an odd way to try to support a claim of open-mindedness.

If you wish to write with lexical profundity, grammatical clarity, or even with accurate spelling, then feel free to attempt it.

Hi David, I don't think I was making any real political statement at all,
Actuall the post started off as just a place to put some pictures of my current travels. Sure I may have said that I like it and even said it was better that Australia but if a simple comment is able to start a text war then it is no wonder that world is going to the dogs.
I think I mentioned that Killing people that carry drugs was a good thing and even if it is not then if that is the law of the land then the laws should be obeyed. Just like all laws in all lands. Speeding is a classic. People that drive fast and get caught seem to think they are being picked on. People that speed and don't get caught think they are something special. Then we could mention Drink Driving. I am sure there is some people reading that think it is ok to get a little pissed or just over the limit and still drive. My own opinion on that is that there should be a zero limit so if you drink at all you should not drive. But then I also think that Kids under the age should not have sex and smoke cigerettes but I would think I am alone on that. After all, without all the substance abuse and underage sex what would all the doctors and nurses do and who would the police and social workers have to chase. As well as the economic loss to the nappie companies.
Ok yes I have to admit that Telstra is part owned by the Govenment so there was a political sway in that comment if you feel like reading it that way.
Comparing wage levels was not something I mentioned, but I know that the vast majority of people here seem to be doing well and driving Brand new Mercs, Lexus and Bmers, sure there are the people that are not doing so well but there are simular situations in many countries. BUt on the whole people are HAPPY and not bitter about life or ready to jump down the throat of people that make comments.
I don't think I was Bagging Graham at all. In fact I clearly said that I respected his right to have his own opinion. Shame people don't extend the same curtisy in this wonderfull world.
If a little sarcasiam, even if spelt incorrectly, offends then I guess I should keep my mouth shut and sell the car so that I do not bring shame to the status of those that go with the flow.

Sorry Peter, Saw the comment but the mind slipped a gear.
You're right it is a global thing, just happening faster in certain parts of the world. It is all money motivated in my opinion people want more becase other people want more, only makes for a wonderful spiral effect and the real winners??? Who knows... So much is manipulated by unknown powers and though even the govenments think they are in control of things there are certain individuals that can colapse an economy in months.
Thanks for not jumping down my throat and chewing out my lungs.

I think that might be stretching it a bit. No doubt there are plenty who are doing well but I doubt "the vast majority" would be an accurate statement. I'd suggest you haven't seen that many people living in abject poverty because those are not the sort of places tourists visit. Much like a traveller visiting the US might think everyone's doing well because they visit Vegas, Hollywood or Times Square in New York and other touristy locations but are unlikely to visit South Central L.A. or Brooklyn or the seedy parts of Harlem etc.
After all, how many visitors to Sydney check out McQuarie Fields or Redfern?

"of or relating to words"
After your first post I refrained from commentary after reviewing your previous posts and our interactions, which have been straightforward. Your second long post was in my view over the top, assaulting others with only a faint claim that you were not doing so, hence my harsh response. If you are making reasonable observations and not grandstanding on the states of countries or abusing people's personal choices, I will keep quiet; promise.

Cor I would love to concider myself a tourist.
I do know many people in Real poverty situations. I work with people from all walks of life and donate my time to helping anyone who needs it.
Yep I have to aggree that my "Vast Majority" comment was a little incorrect but lets say on the whole people are doing ok and mostly are content with their lot. There is no social service in this country so people either sink or swim. or bob about a bit just under the surface. Not a pretty sight. But those that want and can do better do so and no body sucks off the govenment.
I can put up some pictures of some real down and out situations too if that is what is wanted.
Just to confirm that this was never started as a method to enrage but just a persons opinion and some pretty pictures.

Funny when I go to Australia (and the US too) I always think the service from retailers is so much better than in NZ - we are such a surly bunch here! Restaurants are usually a lot better in Aus too, even if the beef and lamb is (as with the US) - though Hamilton is an exception - I always have good shopping and dining experiances there strangely...
