Race cars which are much safer do not use air bags. Airbags have had there own issues going off when they shouldn't Fords in particular had issues with minnor impacks even shopping trolley hits that would set them off. Landcruisers had an issue when if you hit a roo the airbag would go off blinding the driver and cause a crash often at high speeds that wouldn't have happened if the air bag didn't go off.

Whilst air bags are good they are not perfect.

As I understand most of these issues are very well sorted now and crash test proven both in a lab and in real life.

Intrusion bars have been around for how long not exactly new technology..

Airbags were designed for the American market where people refuse to wear seatbelts and family members sue manufacturers when people die from not using the provided safety equipment.

Of course thanks to those idiots not wearing their seatbelts, those who do are now even safer.

I believe they don't where seat belts because they are too fat to get them around their stomachs so they don't bother.

If you don't wear a seat belt with an air bag you will die. Without the seat belt your head will slam into an expanding air bag. Even at a very low speed crash (just fast enough to set the air bag off) the force from the expanding air bag is more than enough to cause death.

This is why most/all air bag cars have a seat belt sensor and with the seat belt not closed the air bag will not go off.

Yup, thats true - never the less, that is why US manufacturers adopted airbags so quickly during the 70's and 80's, they were first seen to be an alternative to seatbelts, only later on did they realise they were actually killing people (who probably would have died anyway due to not wearing their seatbelt)

In many ways the new technology in modern cars are getting soo stupidly advanced you don't and cant drive the car other than pointing it in the right direction

A lot of the drive by wire light commercials don't even let you control the throttle. You put your foot flat, it decides what it should really do with the butterfly. Dodgy eh?

I would not own one simple as that.

The one thing holding me back from buying an Aurion is the inability to turn off TRC/ESP.

I'm sure I would work something out but having a factory button is nicer and I don't want to modify a daily driver.

Well. That's certainly something.

I'd actually prefer to drive that than the Lamborghini.

Some kind of proof of skill project perhaps? Certainly bizzare.
