| Ok, flame suit on standby, this post is by no means an attack at anyone, I am just airing my observations. About me, I turn 40 this year, married with 2 young kids, 2 and 4. For the last 15 years I have only owned 4wds although the wife has had a few cars. The last decent car I owned was a immaculate original 1976 XB GT falcon 4 door, which I sold in 1995 for $7000 (which was good money then) I have also owned a couple of V8 Valiant VF coupes over the years, actually my first car was a 1969 VF coupe, in 1987 when I was 17. No P plate laws back then, I got my learners on my 17th birthday, P licence 6 weeks later (lost P licence about a week later, took me about 2 years to finally get my open licence as you had to have held your P licence for a continuous 12 months) I brought my Soarer 2 weeks ago, I paid $2k for it as it needed some work, took me 1 week to fix it and get it back on the road. Now I have to admit I have fallen in love with this soarer, and am trying hard to find a excuse / way to keep it, as I already pay rego and insurance on 3 other cars plus a caravan. I also have to fight the wife to drive it While cruising around the last week looking cool in my soarer ( and they do look cool) I have had every young idiot P plater in there mums hyundai wanting to race me, 3 spotty faced, long haired, pot smoking, scruffy clothed, who were coming up to there annual bath, in a clapped out magna, they were either on their way to the wreckers or just got back from the wreckers with their new magna, give me the thumbs up, while whatever they were listening to ( was not music) was distorting there speakers. A traffic controller turn his head as I drove past the road works, he may have liked the sound of the V8 through the dump pipes. I have also come across some fantastic websites, this one being the best, I have spent so may hours reading through so many useful posts. I have also been looking at www.boostcruising.com which is where I purchased the wheels for the Soarer from. I have also been looking through the members rides section, where I have been having quite a laugh, I don’t know maybe it’s because I’m out of touch with the car scene, or I’m just getting to old. I have observed that, it does not matter how many tens of thousands of dollars you spent on a commodore, its still just a commodore, (same for a Falcon) Soarers are cool Every commodore owner has to have a "Chev" badge on the grille, this is a given, unless it’s a 6 cylinder then you just get bagged for being stupid. Soarers are cool The stereo system has to be worth more that the car, however it doesn’t add any value to the car Soarers are cool If you own a 1 tonne ute, you have to have 2 tonne of accessories added to it Soarers are cool and if your lucky enough to own a Soarer, you have to put Lexus badges on it ????? By adding 22" wheels to your car does not necessarily make your car cool, it can also make it look like a 4wd with a lift kit Tax refunds coincide with wheel and tyre shop sales and most importantly It doesn’t matter what other people think of your car as long as your happy with it reminds he of a shirt I saw once "Jesus loves me……………it’s just everybody else who thinks I’m a wanker" This is all tongue in cheek, and I hope you get a good laugh |

Not enough people realize how cool Soarers can be David, Then there is the definition of what is cool, too many people will have their own ideas on what is cool and what is not. eg. I saw a purple r32 Skykine last night that looked like it had been painted with a paint roller, the owner probably thought it was cool, I on the other hand was thinking WHY? |

| Yes indeed the Soarers are a cool car to the people that discover wonderfulness of these machines I will always be a fan of them, but I probably like Celsiors more as I see them to make more sense being they are cut from the same cloth as Luxury cars. Don, isn't the soarer represented better by the slower fatter cat moving to the headphones?? |

I see a pink 4-door R32 with the plates "DROP2nd" Very low, lows of scratches/scrapes/dents. I personally think its quite awesome, gives the car character, and you know he drives it like its meant to be driven. *Also puts on flame suit* |

| Ha finally a kindred spirit !!!!! As a fellow former falcon GT and v8 vally wagon owner and a sneeze away from the wrong side of 40 myself your comments fit so well. The only difference is that my v8 soarer has the stereo I bought when I was a snot nosed teenager just installed into it (cost me more than the deposit on my first house when I was a apprentice in the early 90's ) Do you have any idea how much fun it is to pull up next to a p plater blaring distorted doof doof music then totally drown them out and overpower any noise they can make with crystal clear eagles or dire straits or if you reaaaaly want to mess with there heads sinatra or johnny cash is really good fun I have one advantage you don't have though, after letting the other half use the soarer a few times while doing repairs on their car it's now a fight to see who grabs the keys for it first in the morning and with 10 or 12 cars and a few trailers registered at any 1 time I own shares at motor reg and am almost on a first name basis at shannons so another 1 or 2 does not get any arguments. |

| Soarers aren't really cool... so to speak. A lambo or a ferrari is cool, BUT they do have respect from just about everyone, from people in commodores to poeple in Toranas to people in Skylines... It's just one of those cars that no one really hates. And no one really loves. except the person driving it... I think it's the American/Japanese styling that still hasn't aged as much as other cars do. |

| Probably the most beautiful classic car of all time, Callum. That design is perfect from every angle. Lamborghinis look like pathetic penis replacement mid life crisis greased back hair italian rice skateboards. Ugly from almost any angle, and look completely stupid on the road. Too low, too try-hard flashy. Just sh1t awful terrible disgusting gawdy garbage. Every time I see someone driving one I laugh at them. Truly crap, and only bought because the owner thinks the outrageous price tag inflates his self worth. Like buying a Zegna suit and then wearing an Armani suit over the top and 15 gold chains. They are the ultimate rice. They just keep strapping stupider and stupider crap to them. Lamborghini believe "more is more". Nope. Gold plating your testicles and hanging them out your pants does not make you look cool. The Countach was the last time one of their cars was remotely ownable and only because of the time it was released, and that it was their first of that style. It could be taken as an inside joke. But if you keep repeating the joke, you become the joke. Vomit on wheels. Pass. I would sooner drive a Camira. I would sooner ride a scooter. Hell, I'd sooner ride the bus. |

| Original Countach was a sweet design which then got diluted with wheel arch extensions, fins, spoilers etc. Was aweful drive (according to James May anyway) - heavy, hot and unstable. Love the Gallardo and the big Mercielago and the Ferrari 430. How could you not? |

| me thinks thou does protest to much Miles. So they are not your cup of tea , but honestly they are far better designed and engineered than a camira, and I'm sure you would have a smile on your face if you tested a lambo's limits. They are an italian supercar and just different to the American muscle you seem to like. One could question your fascination of over priced underengineered American mediocrity. Each to their own Miles , Lambo's are admired all over the world as a world class supercar , and a symbol of achievement. I wouldn't own one if I had the money , but to say you wouldn't drive one if you were given one is just arrogant and stupid. |
