Why should I remain being a decent person when lots of people around me do the most dastardly things and get away with it?
I think people who have crime in mind as their career should come to Australia to commit them. I mean when you look at the statistics of crime and the punishment dished out, it's laughable.
Apart from the 'feel good' aspect of self, I can't see a good reason to remain as I am. I think I'll start abusing other motorists for the most minor of infringements, denting their cars in the carpark, cutting them off after overtaking, not giving blinkers, blah, blah, blah.
Maybe I'll start carrying a hand gun and shoot the next person that tries to take my parking spot. I'll only get 6 months probation and a little community work.
Where are my rewards for not doing these things? Sure, it's well and good there are punishments for crimes against others, but where are the rewards?
Maybe it's time I was pulled over and given a voucher for a discount on my registration because of my courtesy.
Tell me the last time you got a letter in the mail saying how someone had reported your good deed or how well you had handled a particular situation?
I think a lot of this goes back to how hard it seems for some fathers to give their offspring praise for something well done. Maybe they see it as easier to punish.
Yours in crime. Mike B.

The things you do when your bored.. nah.. just kidding. :-)

A lot of posts you make mike I do think are stupid which is why I dont post in them but have never thought for 1 second that your stupid and here you've actually posted something quite truthful and something I whole heartedly agree with you on and most times get quite frustrated over.

Australia's justice system is an absolute joke and it's just getting worse and the punishments these day's that are handed out are yes... laughable. In the last 6 months their have been so many violently stabbing's in perth most of which being fatal and IF you get caught I think you get what... 6 months ??? they've been trying to push the law to get mandatory sentencing for carrying a knife but it keeps getting dismissed because they think it's "Inhumane" how can they compare that as being inhumane as opposed to ACTUALLY stabbing someone ??? The solution seems so simple but the only thing that changes is the rate in which crime is rising. Prisons are already over crowded by almost 3 time's their capacity but rather than build more cells and raise punishments the government would rather spend it on (perth) a new ferris wheel on the foreshore, an eye sore of a bell tower and a debate has just started that we don't have a decent amusement park over here... I'm a thrill seeker and love a good ride but , I would rather see the money spent on more cells and harsher punishments cause things I believe are getting to a further state than BADDDDDD.

I still try to do my daily good deeds to keep my own karma in check but you will never see public good deeds in the rag or on the news even when the state police put a price on things. The reward for catching a fire bug has a reward of up to $50,000 doesn't it ??? 2 years ago in Perth 2 guy's caught a a convicted fire bug in perth in the act of lighting a fire, they chased him, caught him and called police and they came and arrested him. The firebug in question like I said was already convicted and also had outstanding warrants for the same nature of crime. The 2 guy's who caught him and most of the public were appauled by the $500 reward they got... you'd think catching a convicted firebug in the act resulting in an arrest when he's also got outstanding warrants would net you the whole $50,000 wouldn't you ??? nope. So yeah, even good deeds that do make the news will have a negative outcome....

I also agree with you how a lot of this crime is a result of how the parents bring up their kids and agree when they say it should be the parents who cop the punishment for when kids under the age of 18 commit a crime... once again, will never happen and parenting will get worse and worse. I disagree with all this crap that you shouldn't hit your kids... my dad had a very strict upbringing being an only child in a family that Jehovas witness's and that rubbed off on to me and he used to beat the living piss out me ( not domestic violence styles :-) )if I played up and although I used to wish bad things upon him for this at this age i'm glad he did as I think I would be a lot worse for it. My life after child hood was far from perfect having been though a few of life's little challenges and over coming a drug addiction, I'm scared to think of where I could of ended up had my parent's not of cared about me or my dad hadn't of used his hands on approach to my naughty ways.

The problem is Australia in full of fg sooky lala do-gooders.

No one wants to stand up and say that an eye for an eye might actually be a good idea.

Everyone is too busy with the whole politically correct bullshit that no one is seeing the big fg picture.

Australia is going to the dogs in more ways than one, and no ct will stand up and try and do anything about it because it might not be politically fg correct.

Before too long it will be too fg late.

Dave, there is no way I'm going to heaven as I don't believe it exist.
The part of this debate that gives me the most angst is that we live in a society which deems it perfectly OK to punish, albeit lightly, but rarely gives credit or reward.
I'm sure you've noticed how many angry men (and women now) there are. I feel there is something missing in their upbringing which brings this about and maybe it's the lack of praise.
As this is something I've brought up before, perhaps it's clear that this was the case for me. Nothing was ever quite good enough and as a consequence I spent decades trying to please my father. It only started to work shortly before his death. Too bad for him, and too late for me.
Anyway, that's my rave for the day.

I work in a prison, and its very frustrating seeing the pussy justice system in action. the crooks have more rights in there than we, the officers do, its a complete joke.

"can i have this?"
"no, you know you cant, off and dont ask stupid questions"
*prisoner calls ombudsman* "waa waa, i violently assault people, rape women and touch up little kids and im not getting what i want"
ombudsman: "give him what he wants"

Edit: next year I will be applying for the police force when my driving history clears up. at least with that career its a fulfilling one, where you can tell yourself you ARE doing something to benefit the community... somewhat!

I got off the topic there for a moment.
I'm noticing how more and more people are not happy with the justice system in Australia. As an individual, I'm not feeling too powerful to make change. Nor do I know where to start to help bring about change.
I could write to my local member or even to parliament, but unfortunately I'm cynical about that as well. Aha. A partition is the go.
All I need now is for someone else to start it.

Mike ;
Welcome to what i put up with EVERY DAY.
But if i did what others are doing ...small ones (cars).
I would end up wiping out at least 5 cars per day.
and that would end up in a fatality just about every time i did it.....
Mate i recon do unto others as you would have then do unto you.
Another words be nice and it will come back to you 10 fold
KARMA mate it does work.
EG; i was watch this truck coming into Kempsey (from sydney side) and having a two way in the truck we all talk to each other.
I asked if he had driven road trains before because i was watching how he drove his truck.
Now straight away he was on the defensive ....Whats wrong with were i position my truck mate ! was the reply.
i told him that it was perfect positioning for road train driving and praised him for such a great job he was doing ....INSTANTLY his whole attitude changed and his agro that was there seconds ago was totaly gone ..
Now that guy will remember that for a long time to come.
Now on the other hand there a several guys out there that need to be reamed with a red hot pocker.
and karma finaly come around the other night and bit there back pockets big time.
In short B Double trucks are only allowed to go on selected roads, road trains are in the same boat as well.
Now these three clowns went were thay where not supposed to be ,because the roads were blocked and thay thought thay would go were single trailer trucks are allowed to cut out time and effort each of them were fined $900 for trying to beat the system...KARMA gets ya every time.

So Mike don't let it get ya down mate if you were an arse hole like the others you mentioned Do ya recon we would want to talk to ya??????????
so what ya doing so having like minded people around you and enjoying there company ....REWARD enough mate..

Ryan;
yer mate as a prison guard you can't do any thing about it.
BUT
as a prisoner thay can do a load .
remember the old saying "Honour amounst theives"

Yer well it does happen
when i was in pentridge (melb) there was a guy come in and tampered with a 7 yr old boy, the guards were power less to do any thing.BUT there was one guy that would do some thing about it...well it turned out there was about 10 that did some thing about it.
it was let known that this prisoner was coming into the yard and the said prisoner left with in 5 mins with around 8 stab wounds

so when it comes to the elderly and children the hardest crimals still have respect for the old and the new generations.
Now this is a true story cause it happened about 10 feet in front of me.
when the stabbed prisoner was up again he was put in protection .them days that was worse then being in prison .You had a whole section to your self ...no one to talk to You were all by your self 24 hrs a day 7 days a week no social interaction with any body.
BOY if that happened to me i would have hung my self

There are a lot of old time crooks that I deal with who I have no problems with at all, exactly like you said. They have some form of respect. (Most of them) It's the young dipshit wannabes the give me the

and unfortunately, nearly the whole jail (the one i work at anyway) IS protection.

the honour among theives is going down the drain with the new generation of crooks, where its cheat, steal and lie to your own kind. its now a dog eat dog world with no sense of respect what so ever.
