So, let's encourage people to have more babies. That should fix it.

Got some trivia for you guys.

Since Adam and Eve a good estimate says there has been around 6000 years, in that time there has been around 20 billion people alive up till this day.

If we reserved HALF the world for food stocks (crops and the like) there is still enough room for a family of 4 per ACRE of land.

That means if 20 billion people were alive today (there is only 6 billion) we could each have 1 acre of land in between the next house.

So the world really isn't that cramped at all. Its just bad use of the geography that we have.

Gary, I notice how you use the work 'we' as in your last paragraph.

Ummm....except that more than half of the world either don't have the correct climate/soil/terrain/water supply to be reserved for food production....

yeah well gary we might need a few trees too, just for oxygen production and stuff like that. there are probably just a few other species that we might like to keep around too. the earths population is nearing 7billion and it is estimated that homo sapiens emerged around 500 000 years ago, and homo sapiens sapiens around 100 000 years ago. There was also a theorised extinction event which reduced the human population to about 10%, around 75 000 years ago - the super volcanic eruption at lake toba in north sumatra. while there *may* be room for 20 billion with some lifestyle modifications (prolly not as many soarers for instance), i think its more the trend of population growth that is the worry.

Most population models predict population will level off and/or crash in the next 40-70 years. What causes the possible "crash" is the worry.

Honestly though, 95% of Australia is basically a desert - always makes me laugh looking at the farmers winging about the "drought" they are having - no, thats what farming a desert is like people! Thats what you get for living on Tatooine I guess! Need more evaporators!
