It's odd how the italian supercars seem to catch fire. Like what has already been mentioned, the Lambos and Audi R8's are ones that have also been photographed on fire.
Just hope they've got good insurance. Also, it pays to carry a fire extinguisher around, which I do not! Hahaha

Italian cars are supposed to randomly catch fire, its part of the ownership experience. Not just the expensive ones either - Alfa Romeo's, Lancia's, Fiats - they have all had loads of models with fire problems. I think it adds to the adrenaline rush you get when driving one to know it could just burst into flames at any minute.

Precisely!
Also...... being a time of recession, I am sure it would have been ideal if an owner needed to sell it, and it just happened to burst into flames..... thank you insurance!
I suppose Ferarri would cover the excess since it's a product fault?

Seems like a problem with a bonding glue used in the rear mudguard liners igniting from heat from the engine bay. All cars have been replaced and the liners are now riveted rather than glued. Every review of the Italia I have read suggests it is a supurb car and probably the best car Ferrari have ever made, which is saying something.
