They don't suffer in the heat. There coat act the same as sheep do in the heat. And there coat don't get as thick as there oversea buddies.I've had Husky for now over 14 years so i think i know a little bit about them.

Thanks Craig, but we got one... shes cute. I wanted a boy but, we ended up getting a girl... she has bi eyes, shes gorgeous! we have never had a big dog, so we are kind of getting used to the fact that as a puppy she is as big as my other dog... We also have a little pom puppy thats a third of her size... Dont know if we should let them play together... Will they get along? Was it hard to train your dog? because ours is 8weeks, and she is a little trouble maker! we have only had her for a week though and shes learning where to pee and poop... If you know anything about them (Craig) or anyone... pm please, maybe you can give me a few pointers :-) And yes i heard that they get very hot in the summer time... i dont see anything wrong with getting a husky as long as you can do things to accomodate them and make them feel as comfortable as you can... They are a beautiful breed of dogs, very playful and super active. Shes teething though so, she loves to bite everyone... hard might i add... Can you start walking them 2weeks after there 2nd vacination? Thinking about taking her to doggy school she needs it! Thoughts...

lol - yes they are VERY NAUGHTY puppies that's for sure
... be patient and forgiving and your Husky will grow up to be a very loyal, clever and friendly 'dog'.
... as with all pets, slowly slowly, they'll sort out the pecking order quick smart. Always back up the older dog which will naturally be the Alpha in the pack
.... give her one of your old shoes with laces to chew.
.... the best way to walk your Husky is with a Harness .. they LOVE to PULL PULL PULL !!!!!
Our 2 first Huskies were very hard to train, but the new one is quite good - go figure !!!!!!
Have and ball and love your new ball of fluff ... they love lots of cuddles

exactly, as well as when teaching it a command. the command should only be said once, if you get into the habit of repeating the command I.E sit, sit, sit, sit if you keep saying it the dog will just be under the impression it can do it whenever it want's, therefor only saying the command once "sit" and waiting until the animal sits until it gets its reward.

Yeah she is quite naughty... I cant even clean up her pee without her grabbing the tissues and running away with them.... Shes very gentle though, well apart from the bitting.. but i think she is teething. When do they stop that? She gets her second vacination on friday. Anyone know how long after we can start walking her? Everyone says different things... Yes i heard that you only say the command once. Shes slowly getting toilet trained... she can kind of sit. I was told by the pet store to use a Holty leash... i cant remember if its called that, but something along the lines of that. Anyone know if its normal for pups to get hiccups?

yeah mine does! but not often.
They grow so fast Natasha! I got mine at 7 weeks. From this:
TO THIS!!!
He is only 4.5 months and weights 22kg.. my gosh he's gonna be a big boy. Naughty as hell, I cannot walk him anymore because he's too strong so I would definitely recommend taking up dog training.
You will find that toilet training takes a lot of patience. Apollo is good, he has the idea but sometimes little accidents happen.
Preferably don't walk her until she's up to date with vaccinations. As for the teething, I'm still finding out when it stops! he understands when you say 'no' it means no so get her use to that word.

it could be a halter or Halti. The halti is a nose band/head collar. Stops them from pulling but also allows them to pant and drink water freely. Teaches them that by pulling, they would have restricted head movement and it closes their mouths shut. So they quickly learn that by not pulling, they will be able to open their mouth. Hope that helps.

Wow your pup grew fast! He's very cute though, looks a bit dopey haha, i love dopey dogs. The husky is having a bit of trouble getting along with our other pup, shes a pom cross terrior. Are huskys ok with small dogs? they dont attack eachother... they just both play a little rough SOMETIMES not all the time. They do sleep together. We are taking them both to puppy school. I cant wait to start walking them, your apparently meant to start walking them together to help them form a pack better.

I have had both Husky's and Malamute's and they are beautiful dogs but absolute nightmares to own. They love to be free and will stop at nothing to be free, so make sure you have some really good fences. They need a lot of attention and shed hair everywhere. If they do get out don't stress too much as they like to go walkabout but mine used to come back after a couple of days. lol We also had a 100KG+ English bull mastiff and was much easier to keep. Big dogs are good if you have a lot of space (ours were on 25 acres) but they need a lot of walking if you only have a small yard. We currently have foxies now and they are such easy dogs to look after.

they go walk abouts..... great... mine is a little stupid, not sure if she'd find her way back. She can shake and sit so far. I really want her to get along with our other pup, shes small, hopefully when they start waling together they will form there own little pack.
