not sure if we have many simracing fans here. but here goes.

if there was a place local to you, lets say call it a simracing cafe, that had full motion rigs, triple screen setups, 3d setups and ran tournaments, series and endurance races in various sims for cash prizes, would you go and make use of the place?

Like Live For Speed? Such a good game coupled with a G25/28, Its great to play at home but I doubt I'd be hard pressed going out and paying for it since its online, that said my mates love playing LFS at my place and I could imagine us all going to somewhere like this once or twice, but it all depends on prices.

In a business sense you’d either have to charge an arm and a leg per go (If you have a small premises and unable to fit many rigs), or you'd have such a huge outlay on purchasing (leasing) many rigs with a smaller return per person, the second option sounds ok if you can guarantee a consistent number of patrons. But really, can you?

Compared to a LAN cafe something like this is an extremely niche market and wouldn’t be a strictly local activity, you’d have people driving distance for it, unlike a LAN cafe which has the proven customers to back it up.
I guess you should have a sticky beak around the already setup places like this here in Melb, I cant recall there names but if business is good, then it could prove fruitful.

But remember, prices, prices, prices. I don’t think too many people would go out and pay over $50? Per shot at a game.

But hell, thats just me.

I’m sure you would have seen this, but just in case you haven’t.

thanks for the input daniel.

we would be looking at an initial setup of about 18-20 rigs, a combination of full motion rigs and static rigs. on our cheaper rigs we shoudl be able to offer a price per x time similar to what you get on your daytona usa arcades ect. but with serious sims (lfs, gtr evolution, rfactor, richard burns rally ect) we would be looking to run series and endurance events with cash prizes, for example a 3 hour enduro on nurburgring with a $450 prize pool for $50 entry. that kind of thing. we would hope to be able to cater to the casual racer that wants to run a few laps with his mates, and also for the more hardcore racer, so he could come in and compete in his usual series on MUCH better equipment than he would have available to him at home, obviously aswell as running many organised events with cash prizes to attract competitors.
