i wouldnt hold my braeth gary...ISR have been covering this religiously, and it has been shown in interviews with the devolopers that it is aimed at more of the console arcade racers than the hardcore simmers.

It really comes down to what you consider to be a sim...alot of gaming or mens interest magazines would also tell you that nfs shift is the pinnacle of realism and what not, and this is just laughable.
check out this video of an exclusive ISR interview with the head designers, the area of realism and physics is touched on specifically at 21:20 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LbmX8xFz0_U
the designers constantly sound like they are trying to make the driving accessible so you dont have to spend 100% consentrating on driving the car, so you can focus on your race craft and race strategy ect. now to me...this isnt a true simulation, or a good simulation....but it makes for a great game. to me a sim is that, an accurate representation of driving the real car, if we think about how hammond went trying to drive an f1 car in topgear a couple of seasons back, It was that difficult that he could not even keep the tyres up to temp and had to come back in and have the tyre warmers put back on. and this is a man with ALOT of driving and quite a bit of racing experience. and now we are being given a "sim" where any kid can pick up an xbox controller and set fast lap times in an f1 car...the question is to be asked..how much of a sim is it really? or is it more of a game.
codemasters do have a long history of making automotive games. not sure how many could be called actual sims tho. In their recent history tehy have done such titles as
Grid (very arcady, great game, poor sim)
Dirt and Dirt 2 (also quite arcady and a LONG way away from what i would consider to be a sim..although great ffb with wheels)
and f1 2009, which wasnt exactly known for being sim like. even video game reviewers that arent as critical towards physics as sim racers are said that the physics were not up to scratch and the handeling was overly accessible (video game industry for "dumbed down so even the dopeyest of kids can play it well")
another interesting thing is that f1 2010 is based on the same engine as dirt 2. Im hoping for a good honest true sim out of it. but im expecting alot of shiny graphics, alot of bling, an "accessible" difficulty curve and very little actual sim.
Im hoping for the best...the same as i am with GT5..but not hoping for much more than whats come before but with better graphics.
