| I took my jacket (it's brand new) to an alteration shop in Wetherill Park. I've had all my jackets shortened because of my short arm length so I know how it should be done. I picked it up and didn't really look at it because I was in kind of rush. When I got home, I found that they ruined my jacket !!! OMG
it is basically 4 buttons sleeve and they literally folded it and took other buttons out. I can't contact them till next Tuesday since it's a long holiday. Any advice on how to get full refund of my jacket ?? This is ridiculous and how come this kind of people would run an alteration shop !!! |

if not much of a jacket expert but what other ways are there of taking it up without doing it from the ends? how much is the jacket worth by the way?

Proper way is you shorten shoulder part so you don't lose sleeve design at all. This is common sense as all my previous alteration experts did that way. The alteration shop did this looks pretty nice & professional so I didn't really worry. Took longer time and charged me similar amount so ... phew... The jacket was $499 USD It's f**king joke

Ahh, well maybe next time you should ask how they are going to take it up before leaving an expensive jacket for someone to alter. thats my 2 cents worth

I know nothing about patterns and sewing, but wouldn't shortening it at the top of the sleave require adding additional material to the arm hole, or some how bringing it together, being that the circumfrance of the top of the sleave would be reduced?

I'm not professional either so don't know about detailed process but that's how other people did on my other jackets. Even if it's $50 jacket, no one wants to wear like that... it's common sense.

No It was on sale and I just grabbed while in US (bit crazy tho) anyway, they opened today so I went and spoke to them. They will revert way it was since it's just folded. So far so good..

Yeah I think it's my fault as well. should really check what's gonna happen. The guy didn't explain either, just said 'no problem' but seriously when it looks that stupid, why not call me and double check

thats hillarious Min. Off topic years ago i remember getting a gold ring engraved and sat in the shop for 10 minutes while the guy worked away. After rubbing the sweat off his forehead he looked at me exasperated and exclaimed 'i cant seam to mark it'. maybe you had to be there but it turned out he was trying to use some random knife to free hand it. i guess you see a professional you kind of assume that its not their first day on the job
