Last year I parted with my Soarer of 9 years and bought a Honda Accord Euro (which I love).

Obviously my next step was to join the Honda accord forum to get all the info etc on these cars.

What I have found is that Soarer Central has been providing me with valuable information that I would not have been able top get anywhere else, and that the Honda forums are visited by clowns that leave advice on which they have no idea.

Here's the latest example of a poor guy with a legitimate problem and trying to get advice

"My CL9 has a rough idling when it is stationary and in gear. It gets worse with the A/C on.
I can clearly feel the vibration though entire cabin. I have been filing up with Vortex 98 for the past 5 months or so. I have changed Automatic Belt Tensioner not so long ago (As per my previous posting). Checked the tension and everything seems to be normal.
What seems to be the problem? Could it be some sort of injector related failure? My car's done just over 60,000 km (2006 model).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!"

Some of the serious answers are -

"Have a look at replacing the transmission fluid"

"When it comes to engine mounts, is it possible to somehow lubricate them like suspension bushes?
I have also checked the engine bay while it is idling and when in gear. The engine doesn't seem to vibrate too much though..."

"umm could be worn out hoses in your engine or your timing belt might be jumping. check those"

God help me if I have a problem with this car cos there's no one out there like you guys to help me now!

Agreed, a lot of people here really know their stuff when it comes to Soarers. I've definately learnt a lot and fixed a lot of problems just by reading here. Genuine advice is very rare to come across nowdays but it seems to be in abundance here.

the Honda off and get another Soarer: genuine advice haha I love you guys

No, that definitely sounds like a headlight fluid problem to me. Flush the headlights and replace the filters at the same time.

I think he needs one of these next, what else other than reducing bore on the engines block that could cause his issues.

lol, As owners of a car thats almost 20 years old.
I guess we have to be pretty damn cluey on our rides. because they are grey imports not many people know what do do with them.

and in the process we know alot more about cars in general because the Soarer features such rich technology that's still being used today such as the complex EMS technology with crank angle ignition. MAP sensors when everyone else was using MAF sensors. and direct port injection.
twin turbos, traction control, quad cam v8's, ABS, airbags etc etc the list goes on and on and on...

My opinion as to why we have so many soarer experts and knowledge base on our soarers is simply the type of owner the soarer attracts in the first place.
As stated they are highly sophisticated machines with much technology even by today’s standards. Therefore they attract concision buyers not unlike myself who are genuinely interested in mechanical and gadgetry systems.
Most with at least some mechanical aptitude, others highly conversant and educated.
Unlike other fan bases who buy cars based on "Brand" and 0-100 times.
That’s my opinion anyway.

gary;
try this
get a jack and place it under one side of the engine near an engine mount and jack it up so the weight is off the engine is off the mount.then see if the roughness has gone OR is less than what you had
then try it on all the engine mount areas.
this will tell you if the mount is worn enough to make the vibration.
some times thay can be worn enough to vibrate but not worn enough to see the motor rock.
Also if there is after market mounts fitted some time the rubber is to hard and the engine vibration will be stronger through the cab.

Lew, the problem is not with my car (I'm a mechanic)

I was just pointing out the useless info that people are providing on other forums (such as the Honda one) and comparing it with the expert knowledge that is available on this forum.
