I was driving the 1997 VVTi 2.5 single turbo Soarer on GT5 last night.
Quite nice, did a few upgrades making it 340hp, the game designers got the exhaust note done quiet well. Drives good enough, but I should have put better tyres on it, far too loose in the bends.
Certainly felt nicer to drive than the 1989 300ZX I also bought, now that was crap. |

My Soarer in the game, has nothing left to upgrade.  699hp and no matter is what tires are on it, grip can be an issue. |

I'm enjoying it... but there are a lot of things that could be better.
Vehicles - There are so many redundant vehicles in this game it is not funny. Who really wants 3 different types of Prius? Or VW Schwimmwagens or Kubelwagens? Some far better vehicles could have been used.
Australian Content - Believe it or not, we have quite a rich racing heritage here and have made some pretty decent cars. Things which have been ignored, and quite frankly when they derive a fair deal of revenue from here in sales, its seems almost rude to have so little included, especially when there are so many different variants some of the same vehicles in the game... also, Bathurst... how could you NOT include that track!!!
Engine Sounds - Sorry, but majority of them sound weak as piss and all very alike.
Modification - The vast majority of the cars in the game you cant even visually modify aside from giving them a respray, and even then, you have to own that colour of paint before you can do it. This was a HUGE letdown... I cant even change the wheels on my Soarer from the standard items... Piss Poor.
Menu System - Fcuking garbage. Welcome to 1995
In-Game Menu System - Completely lacking in options to change things such as audio.
B-Spec - Oh ••••• this is the lamest most half arsed attempt at a 'race management' interface ever. Driver commands are not even good enough to be called basic. Driver AI is average as well.
Those are my major gripes... mind you, that aside I am still having fun with it.
I'd go out on a limb here and say that if this had the attention to detail for personalising your vehicles that Forza had, I'd be singing its constant praises.
For the wait, it could have been a LOT better. |

Jeez Tim, you are bloody right about everything you stated. Thanks for ruining it for me haha. No sarcasm at all. Also, why did they bother with the rally part? Compared to whatever rally demo I downloaded the other day (wrc I think) the rally sections are ridiculous. They really should have focused on doing what you have said instead of adding that crap b section garbage but as ou say I am still enjoying it. |

I turned two laps in a shopping center using a G27.
I didn't have a chance to really check out the game menues ect I just wanted to check out the physics/realism.
It seemed to be a backward step more arcade type physics compared with GT5P. I have a G25 thus part of this could a change from the G25 to G27.
From what I saw I wont be buying the game. |

Well glad to see I'm not alone in my dissappointment.
I got questioned over my negative comments about GT5 , I don't see why they couldn't just update the cars, Graphics , maybe make some minor adjustments to the physics/handling of the GT4.
As I said before I think the prologue offers more in terms of reality , but I was bagged ???
Just because it's new doesn't mean it's better.
I even think the Graphics are not that crash hot. |

The setup was using a smallish screen (computer monitor) and the graphics looked pretty good to me given the setup.
It is supposed to be full HD 1080p were as GT5P was 720p so it should be better. |

Damian, they would have had all the driver aids on so little kids can get on and play.
Paul, you are kidding yourself if you don't think it is more realistic than prologue. It is very realistic with all the driver aids turned off and with a high end steering wheel the feedback you get is very informative. |

I turned them off mostly (with what available time I had), and set the physics to the realism mode.
I certainly wouldn't consider my experience to be an indepth test and I would like to sit down and test GT5 out properly given the review I just read which indicated the physics are excellent. |

It's unfortunate they put the SC430, ugly spec soarer in the game. As much use as a Prius.
I mean they should have just put an American SC400 VVTi V8 into it.
Also annoyed they didn't put in the E36 M3 BMW, just the E46, not even the classic E30 2.3 M3. |

an increase in Resolution from 720 to 1080 doesn't instantly mean better graphics , yes better resolution , but the rendering and scenery & Lighting isn't a huge improvement. I'm very dissapointed to be honest.
How long since GT4, and what significant improvements would you say there are ?
Even on the Prologue ?
Car selection is a step backwards , except for the Ferrari's now being included.
Menu's suck , B spec Sucks.
Like I said I'll Probably still play it , but errrgh , it's just not up to what I was expecting after such a long wait.
Anyone played it in 3d , is this the primary hold up for so many years? |

I had the chance to check out GT5 at my house with my G25 my TV ect we did some back to back tests with GT5P to see the differences.
Graphics 720p to 1080p an improvement over GT5P but there is quite a few graphical errors. Graphics suddenly go all blocky around the bonnet (same issue with GT5P) and suddenly there are wavy line/ripple across half of the screen. Not to mention quite a few pauses
My first thought something was wrong with the TV or player or HDMI cable but after a few attempts at the same event it was clear the errors occured in the same location everytime.
Car interiors were up and down, I didn't drive many cars but of the cars I did drive some were good and others were not so good. Gauges which couldn't be read ect.
B-spec cant think of words to describe this waste who thought up this idea?????
Driving physics, humm back to back comparison with GT5P, similar but (with the settings we ended up using) not as good. Hard to explain what the differences were but it was more difficult to feel and balance the car. (this could be due to setup) |

Please go and play Iracing, or Live For Speed and then come back and see if you feel the same!! The feedback is total crap! Its like driving a limp fish that sometimes kicks into life, but only if you hit a ripple strip or come off the track!
I am playing with a G27 on all 3 games, with a 1080p tv, and the graphics are still not great. Smoke turns to crap, and the back grounds flash, a lot. Very let down. But it is a bit of fun. Not to be taken as a real driving sim, as it is not. |

Finally got myself a soarer!! I was so excited when it popped up in the used car section. 1997 2.5L SC300. Could hardly get any traction at first. Chucked on some racing tyres, did a few breathing mods, and won the muscle car championship lol. Nice beast...470HP. Still got plenty of mods to do.
I agree the game could be better...but so could any other game i've ever played. It is what it is, and its definately entertaining me...so I love it. |

yeah there is the lexus sc300 and its 2.5l lol but you can also get the toyota soarer 2.5gt-l i have about 6 of both lol just wish was a premium car so i could change the wheels lol |

I think the game should be better and that is why I am dissipointed. There are other games IMO which are better (some of which are much older), not to mention GT5 was built up to be a much better game than it is.
It was also built up to be a racing simulator which it is not. |
