Im selling my manual s13 for 6.5k, 150rwkws @ 10 psi. Heaps of mods! All it needs for the track is a good set of coil overs. Ive got heaps of parts i can throw in as well.

Pm me for more details.

Kempo.

KE70/AE71 Corolla, AE86 Corolla, RA22/23 Celica, RA65 Celica, GZ Soarer etc... as you can see I am a Toyota fan, or if you want to get a Nissan be sure to put a Toyota engine in it for reliability :-)

Ke70/Ae71 is a good choice but without a 4age conversion its not going to be slideable on anything but wet roads.

Ae86 is as expensive as most R32's/S13's/180sx's and no where near as much power, its really not a decent choice unless you're into that specific car..as a ke70/ae71 will perform the same without costing 20 times more.

Ra22/Ra23 Celica will be hard to get to slide..again..no power and parts are expensive and hard to get, and if hes learning he'll be damaging panels often.

RA65 Celica is a better choice, but again, parts are hard to aquire

GZ Soarer is a great choice, but hard to get in manual...

Seriously, theres a reason why everyone gets an S-chassis car or a Skyline to drift.

Parts are extremely cheap and plenty, they have more than enough power from standard to get sliding, they're plentiful in manual, and if you bin it theres no issue because second hand panels are practically given away.

I'm a toyota guy as much as the next person, but theres just not great choices out there in terms of cheap driftabilty when it comes to toyota, its a shame toyota felt the need to fit chasers/aristos/GX81's and the like with autos...

Yeah agreed Matt. My KE with a 4KC and a locker can slide in the wet but yeah not enough power in dry.
I guess i enjoy a bit of a challenge like the 3.8 commy engine that is goin into the KE.
You're 100% right tho cheap drift car with enough power already would be a Nissan. The Aus spec AE86 (84) with the 1.6 4AC maybe with twin carbs could skid but.. 4AG will do nicely.

Thanks guys it's throwing some ideas around in my head, I was already thinking about trying to find a Silvia or a r32 and this has assured me I was looking down the right path, thanks for the offer kempo but at this stage I'm still trying to save money and I was looking at buying one on the cheap that i can put in my shed and build over time because i don't want to rush into it as if I do it will end up costing more in the long run and as we all know motorsports aren't cheap sports as it is so whats the point of throwing money at sh1t i don't need to haha.

It's also hard to keep a Cefiro straight... but might be a bit more pricy than a 180SX and the like and possibly more difficult to find being a low volume import.

Definately an S13 . The Sr20 actually makes more torque than an RB20 and will be better to drift as throttle response is better even with mods .

When getting an R32 , you normally have to disconnect the 4ws and buy hard rods to replace the rear steering geometry with , to effectively drift without dramas .

Yeah the R32 and S13 both came with hicas options, so you'd need a locker if you bought one with this option.

Lol that's in the s13 hey :-)

silvia's and 180s

Edit: You could get a TT soarer, get a beat up one for 5-6K and then you'll have to strip the interior. It's a lot more work but if your apprentice wages are from mechanics, then you'll probably be fine with it.

I wouldn't get a R31 personally.

I had one, it was a heavy bucket of and constantly had problems. I had a friend of mine who had a 290kw one and it was still a bucket of

for doing 11'zies and 0's on the ground it was fine, but it handled like poorly balanced and felt like it was made out of a discarded volvo body.

Up to you though, I left mine on the side of the road with the keys in it with the words "Take me, i'm free" on the windshield.

PS: It drove fine, i had replaced the whole gearbox and rebuilt the power steering pump and it was pretty much fine as a car, but i already had one and it was worth about 500 dollars realistically and I was moving house.

The s13, r32, ke70, ea86 are most popular for a reason, but if you wanted to be different and could do some of the work yourself you could look into a st141 corona. A common conversion which is quite easy is a 1g-gte which with simple mods would have more then enough power to drift. The car wouldn't be very heavy striped out and suspension parts are available from AJPS, which is where people with e7 people buy their gear. Also if you get one with an IRS rear end you can get a F series Diff with an LSD easily or you can get detroit lockers or lsd's for them also. Although getting one with a live axle and doing a hilux or r31 skyline diff with a good lsd would be a more expensive but overall better option. Food for thought.

A bloke I know has one set up for drift:

Has a 1JZ single turbo in it. There are a few videos on his channel if you search 57ife on youtube.

Thanks, I had a look at it last night, do you know what he did to get it to that? Apart from the 1jz, like, what gearbox, diff, and suspension set up? Because I like the look of doing a Cressida because every man and his dog has a skyline and a silvia

Haha yeah, I guess that's true, although a 1jz you can find for under $1000 and you can get the car for under $1000 so I guess it's the fidlely bits that add the cost up

Chris don't be fooled by that video. That Cressida has had ALOT of work done, it used to be a local car around my area. I think it was for sale last year for around 12k from memory...

You can pick up a Cressida with a 1jz in for under 5k if you look hard enough but they will be auto, the manual ones sell for a fair bit more. The r154 will be strong enough. They run a G series diff stock which is a good diff and you can buy a detroit tru trac for them (which you would need something better than a stock worn out lsd for drifting). Also the chassis is shared with the JZX81 so I beleive you can purchase coilovers etc off the shelf. It all adds up quickly, which is why most people just go with the tried and tested way.

Wow, that thing has had some work done, looks amazing though, I think a silvia or skyline is definatly the cheaper option by far
