I wouldn't. You've got that car looking mint, and it has a 2JZ-GTE. Have some fun with it, they love a few tweaks. To me anyway your Aristo has more appeal than a V35

Have to say, the Soarer will likely go next year and I'm seriously considering a V35 - though if its a good year I might get an Aurion.

That's interesting Matthew as I was also considering an Aurion. I can get a late model one of those for the same money. Why do you say that, and which model do you feel is best?

The ZR6 is an awsome car . My mate has one . I would trade my soarer + cash for 1 in no time if i had the funds . Beautiful to drive , fast enough ( his has run a 14.6 stock ) and plenty of room . Great on fuel and all the creature comforts too .

you would seriously go from one of the best cars Toyotas ever built the soarer to an aurion? a great GT car to a family hack thats only trick is straight line speed, and not much else.... i do like aurions ive done many km flogging the crap out of them around the apple isle, but i'd still have a nice clean good condition soarer any day... if your a driver, i cant see how you could go from a decent rwd chassis when well maintained to an average fwd... unless you just use the car to go from a-b and give it a squirt here and there in a straight line when rolling

Hmmm I would get a 2001-2005 GS300 or Aristo, and wack a 1UZFE into it. Make it a GS400. A V35 would be just a cheap Nissan you would get sick of very quick.

A GS400 would have been perfect had it been released in Australia. The Aristo V8 is getting too old now for my liking.

Well Im 36 and have two kids so yeah, zr6 seems appealing. Can't understand why people call them average. Just as good as any other fwd I've driven. I agree rwd is better but realistically what options are there if you want something less than 6 years old and only have a budget of 20-30k? Xr6?

2JZ for the win guys... 1UZ is a great engine, but crap to modify even if you spend big dollars on a supercharger kit. Spend $5000 to get an asthmatic 200rwkw? no thanks! 2JZ can pump out more torque than a 1UZ with the right turbo setup and BPU mods, especially the VVTi 2JZ. Anyhow, I'm looking at getting an Aristo or Chaser because I need a 4 door Soarer/Supra as I have a child on the way. I think they are a great platform, geared to the luxo side of things. The ZR6 is a great aussie car, however the FWD platform lets it down as a sports car. Add the Supercharger, and you got a death trap if torque steer enters the equation. That's probably why people think it's average - its FWD. An XR6 Turbo or G6E Turbo Ford is the only decent sedan with performance, luxury and a great engine, that has fuel economy when you're off boost. Only issue is, there's nothing cool about being a bogan lol. V35 is a nice platform too, turns heads because they are pretty rare on the street. If you want something different, get a V35. 2001 models go from $11,000 and later models, essentially the same thing, go for around 20-25k. 350Z hard top may also be an eligible sports car and is priced from 24k. They have suffered a massive drop since the 370Z came out, but they are still a great car, smooth and easy to flick around when required. 03-04 Z4 is also a good choice with a bit of wank factor, from $30k + . Low ball a few guys and you may pick up one from 25-28k in the winter time. First you need to decide if you want a coup or sedan, and then test drive the cars in those categories that appeal to you.

Had the opportunity to test drive a 320CLK today. Loved everything about it except the power. Obviously I'm going to have to get the 430 V8. The Aristo would pee all over the 320. Anyone looking to buy an exceptional GS300?? later in the year, let me know.

V35 is built on a good platform they drive well and have very good suspension geometry and they generate lots of grip. The motor is ok, not as good as most toyota donks but good enough. Interior is better than nissan's typical standard but still not on the same legaue as toyota. The issue I see with the V35 is they are still like most nissans built cheap. Many small details such as wiring looms the rubber, hoses, engine tollerances, sound proofing, interior used on nissan cars are just not as good as toyota and don't stand the test of time. You look to have a nice car there Mike but if you are thinking of changing you must be not 100% happy with it. The V35 is a good choice the only question remains if you can live with the compromise of lower quality and the small details which nissan tends to overlook (I personally find this very annoying) for what will almost certainly be a better drivers car. |
