Did you take a look at last nights? Still can't see why they don't come up with a formula of their own which is entirely different to the UK model. Just looks like a weak copy to me. Watched half of it and became bored. Still, it's simply my opinion and not necessarily the thoughts of others.

There was a charade with a jet engine that cooked kebabs!! As if you wouldn't want to see that! Haha. I agree with mike though they should have a different film style and set up to the show that makes it uniquely Aussie. Like change the music and logos and format of the show so it's more memorable rather then just a carbon copy.

The problem with the aussie one is the presenters; It's essentially 3 bogans with no charisma or personality sitting around drinking VB, yobboing about cars on TV.

This week's effort was a bit off in my books, although that might be partly due to the fact that I can't stand Hamish Blake...
It also seemed like there wasn't "enough" to the episode - the race to Hill End was pointless and had no sense of epicness, importance or purpose, the Redback test was as light as a review could possibly be - basically just Kenny going around some city streets and a bit of a racetrack saying "some guy built this in his shed....phwoar" with no mention of figures, any details on the actual components of the car (apart from a "5.7L V8", so that means just a Commodore SS engine, snore). The smart car as a bike was alright though, but they should have caused more chaos with it as opposed to just pottering around relatively quiet suburban streets. The V8-powered kebab machine was a complete failure though, all the buildup for none of the result.

That's the problem with Top gear in general, they go for a wide audience, so they don't risk getting into any technical stuff in case they "bore" the non car enthusiast part of the audience.

yeah i think Top gear Australia is pretty weak, seen clips of the US one and it looks more entertaining... even that show 5th Gear has more technical talk and reviews of cars than endless minutes of B.S. talk that top gear shows have.

If you've seen all the UK Episodes, then the US one will be boring. In the first Season they one for one copied most of the Challenges, just using American themes.
Top Gear Australia is far from perfect (doubt it ever will be with Channel 9 at the reigns), but they appear to be at least trying to do things that Aussie based.
