My guess is due to copyright laws your tv would be preset to encrypt all data you download to play on your tv that has the correct encryption. Therefore you cannot use on another tv.
I think you need to record from tv to computer where you will have the option to record in avi mpeg etc.

OK , unplugged tv from twin tuner, plugged in second tv it worked on recorded programs and usb stick, but if i take the memory stick to another DVD,SAT,TUNER, SOARER, ETC NOTHING!!!!! So it must be encoded and will only play if when usb stick is plugged into the twin tuner. I could just take the tuner on hols, but the HD would take a bashing with some of the roads we go down.

Hi Dave, i have not saved from a hdd to usb, only hdd to disc, where at the conclusion you must finalize the disc to play on other recorders. When saving to USB, is there options on saving format?

Hi Tom, Nathan put me right on a few points , but in the end it all got to hard and to long to convert. Beyond wiz ( the make of PVR) and could see its a problem.
Beyonwiz recordings are made in proprietary format – .tvwiz – which are 32MB chunks in FAT32. If you export directly from the GUI the recordings will remain in .tvwiz format. To transfer recordings in the more user friendly .TS (transport stream which is MPEG2), you need to initiate the transfer from a PC/Mac using tools like WizFX (free on their website). This allows you to choose between .TS or .tvwiz format, with the programming doing the compiling on-the-fly to generate 1 .TS file instead of a folder with many 32MB .tvwiz chunks. Even a .TS format file isn't the most friendly format with DVD players not able to read them, and probably most TVs. .-----
even if i managed to find the right format it all takes to long, so i will take the PVR with us next time we take off .
