Ok, heres the story. Been with dodo since 7.12.2004. First 6 months for $4.90 a month then $9.90. Early october i went on a 24month, $24 broadband contract with a $65 cap, 200mb. Just checked the credit card statement for this month and realised that im being charged like $80 a month.
3.1.2006 $50 then 6.1.2006 $19.90, then 9.1.2006 $9.90 and same for the last few months....wtffff
i dont download at all yet still my usage history looks like this
does anyone have any idea wot could possibly be going on before i call em and go nutz???

sucks that they include uploads and downloads in your useage, thats dodgy if you ask me. Do you use a wireless modem at all? If so it seems like someone may be stealing your bandwidth. other then that i dont really know, sounds like something is up though, id be ringing them

Change your provider.
Im not sure what is a better alternative in Vic but Dodo arent setup well enough for broadband.

Get on google though, and do a search for "trend micro housecall"
Its a website which does a free virus and spyware scan for you. However you have to use ie because it needs to install ActiveX for the software.

www.free-av.com Large German Antivirus crowd with a free for personal use client I have found to be excellent, they even have a free for personal use linux antivirus client as well. You need to set up the scheduler for the updates but that is easy or I can post instructions.

Err I used to work for Dodo... $4.90 or $9.90 is the monthly fee. It only includes 70mb of downloads. Whatever u use after 70mb is charged at 18c per mb up until a maximum of like $14 in excess data charges. so if you monthly access fee is $4.90 then u can only pay a maximum of $18.90, and if your monthly access fee is $9.90 then the max u pay is $23.90
on Adsl with Dodo your data limit counts both uploads and downloads... thats why your bill is the way it is.
Have you cancelled your dialup account? That is probably why you got charged that $9.90. Call up and cancel your dialup, and they should (hopefully, they usually do) refund that $9.90 back.
but yeah, as much as I love Dodo hehe I wouldn't go with them for broadband either! all the abuse we cop for it being down so often lol...

p.s. most likely i think you've signed onto a 24 month contract so i think switching providers will be unlikely unless you want to pay out the contract.

Have you considered all the automatic updates going on in the background... Usual suspects are Win XP, any Java, Anti-virus, Quicktime, Media Player, Acrobat, IE plug-ins.

That makes sense Lisa but i dont see how i go so far over 70mb when i dont download, especially with dial up. And now with broadband 200mb limit and im being charged over $80 a month when its capped at 64.90....i dont see how that works and how the hell is it that im using over 600mb a month when the most ive ever downloaded is a song or two at about 4.5mb each
As far as automatic updates go, i update my anti-virus once a month, if that and it only takes about 2minz for it to finish so it cant be like 300mb+.

Every time you go on the net you are down loading. Every time you open a webpage you download the page, every email, is uploaded or downloaded, every time you click on a picture it downloads the picture, etc etc (I think).

woah $80 a month for dodo broadband, thats nuts! I was paying $40 for iinet DSL2 (not sure if its available in your area) with 20gb of downloads a month. Id be finding out how much they will hit you with if you change providers.

Ok....the old account was still running and that was the $9.90. As far as $50 goes thats my usage plus $19.90 is 69.90 (cap). So ive changed it to a $34.90 a month plan with 3gig which should be ok now
