Did anyone see tonight's news(channel nine)? Sickening it was another silly driver killed himself,a mate and a three year old survived another high speed or racing accident(It looked like another skyline or some sort of nissan). Most of us arn't clean (including me)but the thing I am chuffed about is that dad(the driver)had his three year old in the car also had the spear space saver on and split the car in two "shocking" or just "stupid".I have to say people like myself should take a step back from this and take this to the track not the streets.Speed kills and i am not saying that the blame is on imports it is to all cars! Use your head!

I just hope no one on the forum go and do something stupid like this especially with kids in the car. It's tempting i know but think of your family and everyone else you may clean up due to an accident leave it for the track and have fun.

You cannot believe all that you read in the papers or watch on the news. They 'rewrite' stories to give them a more 'interesting' edge.

How do you know that the 2 men weren't actually in a hurry to get the kid to hospital for some reason?? Unless you have inside knowledge, you shouldn't comment. There are some people, like myself, who don't think that ANY COMMENTS coming from a death is funny. Even if made to 'lighten the mood'.

Shame Shame SHAME...

My comments were not ment to be funny this was rather serious,as for your thoughts (respected) I can say that the seriousness of this prang did not show that they were in a hurry to go to the hospital the reason is that the spare tyre(skinny space saver or bike tyre if you may) is only ment to be driven at a minimum of 50 to 60kph not as fast as this guy did to split the car in two shawly if he was in a rush to the hospital he wouldn't have put his child in more danger. My comments were not for this person it was ment to show the seriousness of speeding on public roads and the love ones you leave behind, I too need to change the way I drive.

The evidence on the news didn't need a story it was the pictures that said it all.

This is part of the news real

Boy survives fatal sports car crash

18mar06

A THREE-year-old boy has survived a horror crash of a high-performance sports car in which two young men died in Sydney early today.

Police say the Nissan GT Skyline shattered into three pieces when the driver apparently lost control on a suburban Merrylands street and slammed into a tree at 12.45am (AEDT) today.
The driver and front seat passenger, both in their 20s, were killed instantly.

The three-year-old boy, the only other person in the car and seated in the back, escaped with minor injuries.

He was taken to Westmead Childrens Hospital.

Jeff, she was referring to me, not you.

Have a look at the car, work the speed out for yourself.

1 less idiot to take you and me out on the road.

It would give me no comfort to see my wife & children (or you for that matter) smeared all over the road by thinking "OH, it's OK that he killed them, he was rushing to hospital to save HIS kid."

Tough Tamatha, I feel no sympathy as I do have kids and I dread morons like him coming anywhere near me and my family.

I don't respect your views and you don't have to respect mine, we are just either end of a democratic spectrum I guess, on this issue.

So, don't tell me what I can and can't say and I promise I won't tell you.

And OK, he probably wasn't teaching the kid to steal a car, but that comment was an indication of the loathing I have for these missile jockies.

All in all, it is a tradigity, but hey, he learnt the hard way...... with his life

Its not a good thing, but with a full car load he should have been more sensible and responsible driver

This should help explain. ( copied from the thread Manny posted )

but he was speeding with a space saver and it blew up....

There was an accident involving a R33 GTST at 2am Friday night on Chetwyn Rd,Merrylands. There was four people in the car including a three year old boy and his mother. The boy and his mother survived, sadly the driver and front seat passenger did not.
The accident was the next street down from my home address. I noticed it after leaving home this morning. The car has left a straight section of road, hit a tree with enough force to throw the engine into the park.
The people live 100mtr's up the road and I see them all the time and the car all the time.
There is no doubt they were speeding but there are some factors to consider and take on board. Firstly he has been driving around with the emergency spare on the drivers rear corner for the last 3 weeks. I mentioned he should change it asap as there is a real danger of it blowing out. Another factor is too hard suspension and 20 inch wheels which may have lifted the passengers front wheel causing loss of control.
I believe this is what happened, losing complete control and carrering into a tree.
People have been using this road for increasingly over the last few years to lay some power down. Only a week ago I knew something was going to happen sooner than later and it has. The thing is I expected it to be a few people with high powered V8's which have been ruteenly waking everyone up lately. Mabey a person being ran over or a crash, which has happened in the area numerous times resulting in death.
Chetwyn rd really needs a camera there to slow people down before the inevitable happens which now has.

If you want to go quick, go somewhere where there is an exit plan not high density suburbs. Track days, supersprints,N.T., etc or you may pay the price of life and your family and friends will suffer till their time comes.
This guy was my neighbour. I saw him a few times a week driving past and stopped and chatted regulary. This includes the other people in the car. He only had the car a 2 months I think and that was it.

My Mum lives around the corner form where the accident occurred.
I drove past it today.
Accident investigation have marked the points from which the car started to skid and loose control.
The paint markers start on the wrong side of the road to which he was travelling - indicating he was overtaking someone (as mentioned in numerous papers)
Numerous articles also mention the were only two adults and one child in the car - none of which were wearing seat belts. The boy was thrown from the car and amazingly survived.
The skid marks started approximately 80 meters before the tree.

(The skid marks started approximately 80 meters before the tree.)

Going by that I would say he was doing more than 100kph in a possible 50kph zone wich supports jeff and my comments.

My response to Jeff H comment was with regards to the wording.

At 15 yrs I lost my Dad, Step mum and my 3 week old brother due to high speeds and idiocy. Even though their own actions may have caused this tragedy, it compounds the stress to their family and friends when hearing or reading such comments. 'teaching the 3 year old how to steal cars'!

As for the speeds involved yeah they were stupid to drive in such a manner with a child on board, or even without. But WE ALL have put our foots down at some time or another. I am not saying that we have kids on board when we do this, but how many other commuters are on the roads?

Yet he without sin cast the first stone!!!

So you can now all rip me to pieces, as I am sure that you will. But if this thread is for people to make derogatory remarks about strangers and their tragedies... I take not further part.

Catchya then.

I agree with Jeff / Jeff.

I feel for the families and friends, but I'm glad the moron who drove at least 50kph over the speed limit on a 3-week old under-inflated space saver wheel on the wrong side of the road racing / dangerously driving in a built up residential street learnt their lesson, I know it sounds heartless but I'm just telling it how I see it, which is probably due to my bad mood.

The point is that he didn't learn anything, he was killed. There is a big difference.

The passenger also "learn't his lesson" I suppose.
