At todays currency rate, the cost per litre would be.......

2.42 GBP = 5.74341 AUD (per litre)

Now with a 78 litre tankful, that's pretty much $448 to fill it up.

At that rate, I don't care if we never see it here.

I've swapped over from 98 to the local supermarkets discounted 96 - 4 cent/litre off.
See how it performs.

They write that "The fuel contains a high performance oxygen containing bio-component"
Sounds like they stuck some ethanol in it!!!

Their cost per litre would be different to our cost per litre. Obviously they wouldn't be refining it there and bringing it here, we'd get the formula to refine it and make it locally right? They got a different fuel taxing structure to us as well. Europe's fuel prices in general are three times higher than here in Oz. I'd say if there's an 8c per litre difference between a 91 and 98, then there will be an 8c difference between 98 and 102 or something like that here locally.

P.S. I didn't read the link... just the comments LOL

I did this once. I put $62 worth of fuel and i had a docket to get 4c discount. I ended up paying $60 for the fuel. $2 discount??? And i have to collect dockets and make a mess in the car? For $2???

The more people buy fuel based on dockets, the more independents and smaller companies will go broke, the more coles and woolies open... you know what that means for the future... Besides, a lot of times I drive past shell or woolies, and the price is higher than say Peak or Mobil etc. by 3 cents, then they give you a 4c discount?!?!?! Why bother, honestly this whole discount fuel voucher scheme is a crock of sh|t, and if anyone believes that they're actually saving money they're very very gullible. Back in 2001 there was a genuine saving, nowadays it's all just BS. I wish majority of people would just think independently and not follow marketing forces like sheep, world would be a better place.

Gas has just hit $1.76(NZD) per liter, for 95 octane, (or whatever the crap it's called!), so, I'd be prepping for a similar (5 cents per liter) increase in the VERY near future!

I tend to agree Daniel. Who has checked to see that the price of things we buy at Woolies/Coles hasn't gone up to compensate for the 4c/L discount at the pump? I reckon we're worse off than ever at the moment.

That's right Simon, the whole scheme relies on the fact that majority of people can't be bothered checking whether the original price is lifted up by the discount. I don't know whether it's their ignorance, laziness or what, but it sure works great for those big companies. Even though I wouldn't buy fuel there since only BP has 98 RON fuel here, I still observe it out of interest, and sometimes it is just plain obvious. People just pull in the because they like the feeling of getting a discount.

-"Anyone wanna buy my Soarer? Only $50,000 and it's yours, I'll give you a massive $35,000 discount too."

-"Wow! What a bargain! I better buy this one than the other ones advertised for $14,000, because I get a discount! Yay! I'm saving heaps of money! Yay! I'm a gullible idiot! Yay!"

Big whoop, over a year that is hardly anything, to just about anyone. Especially when you own a car like a Soarer. What you gain in price you'll probably lose in mileage anyway.

You'll be lucky if you even save that much these days. Even if, $100 over 52 weeks is... wait for it... a whopping $1.92 per week! Yay! I lose that much a week when I accidentally drop a 20c coin on the ground and can't be bothered to bend down and pick it up.
In the long term it will cost you more, there will be less competition, and only Coles and Woolies 'competing' between each other with their discount vouchers... discount my a$$

i don't really give a stuff about the price of petrol. if it goes up 10c a litre, it costs me maybe another $3 a week at the most? big deal. even if you do look at it that 3 bucks a week adds up to 150 a year, it still doesn't warrant the constant aggro that some people have about the price. what i'm saying is, i'm sure there are other things in their lives they need to worry about more.

like the road toll. does it really require all the policing and ads and crap? the gov could save a lot more lives by doing something about heart disease. similarly, quite a number of the people i know who complain about the price of petrol could save 3 times that money by quitting smoking.

also, my V8 runs just fine on 91 octane. i just don't floor it everywhere.

Honestly, I can not notice a difference on mine either fuel, be it in power or distance covered. But as someone who used to travel 86 kms to work and 86 back (which adds up to nearly 40 thou a year) it'd use a touch more than $150 extra p.a. I guess people just get cranky about working hard to earn more fuel money so that they can drive the same damn distance, just to go to work.

It's not just the cost of driving to work that this affects. It's everything else too. Most products and services over time will have to lift their prices because it will cost a lot more to transport say food or electrical goods etc. So if you're not paying so much more fuel, you'll pay it somewhere else down the line, simple. Fuel prices (and our brilliant WA economy) is what is driving the inflation nowadays, and there's a huge chance they will raise the interest rates to balance this off as a result. Now this can't be good for my mortgage

If you guys had mates working at the Shell petrol stations, you could've rorted the bastards.
One of my mates used to work in a Shell station, and he'd always nick those Fly Buys 20c discount vouchers. This combined with the 4c docket I get from Liquor Land (my dad and his mates always make me buy their beer) makes a cool 24c discount.
