Yup, slow and steady does it Don hehehe. Good work on the decision mate. I guess the urge will come along when you put yourself in the situation/routine when you might have accompanied that with a drink. Now you need to do something else instead to take your mind off it. Just have to think of something else you may enjoy. |

| Go Don!! Now you'll out live us all, being in that cleaner NZ air and all. Oh, and this will give you better coordination for chasing down those sheep. Which in turn will help with the weight problem. But seriously, good on ya Don. |

| Mmmm, Looks like I'll have to take up drinking so I can be the * Friday Night * Hamposter..hahahahahahah I used to drink VERY Heavily wilst I was Married to my first Wife.( Easiest way to avoid her, scull till I was wasted then fall asleep ) I'd knock over 30 Stubbies between 5.30 & 9.00pm Then 1 day, I thought. Now if I keep my head together, maybe, just maybe I can rid myself of the problem I was in. So, 16-17 years ago I stopped on the spot. Took about 5 years after that to get seperated. Since then, I have excelled in ALL area's, I am where I am today, because I became * Focused * I now own a House, Many Cars, And have a great Woman by side I have done all this single handed. I had to start from scratch after giving all up after the divorce. One thing I didnt give up on was my 4 Children. My cars came after I had finished getting them through school. 8 1/2 years of working 24/7 to keep them going was well worth it. St!t I'm blurting out here,,hahahha Bagg's, great going mate, now you can jump in ya Soarer at * Any Time * and smile when the booze bus pulls ya over Three Cheers for Bagg's |

| Thanks again guy's and guy'esses . I've lived a charmed life thus far, and I suspect as Karen says, that I have a Guardian Angel loitering in my vicinity (probably a whole Host of em!). Many's the time I drove home from a work doo with one eye closed, so that I saw only one white line, not multiple , and the last time I did that (some months ago), there was a booze bus pulling folks up (as they do), but the Guardian Angels were on double time plus a day in lieu, as the cops waved me through, and I arrived home without incident. I have NEVER drunk & drove since that night, and as of Friday I shall not booze again, period!. Onwards & upwards |

| That's fantastic news Don! I never got myself drunk and I don't think I ever will. I'm proud to say I don't drink, even though all my mates get wasted on a weekly basis. I haven't touched alcohol since.. hell I don't even remember and I'm just a kid |

| Big headlines in local rag about all the bottleshops closing down. Is that right Don? What did you do with all the duty free bottles? Another by-the-way benefit of your trip to Neils' bash would be that it will pay for its self in a few bourbon-less weeks. The odd glass of red should be ok with the Sunday roast, shouldn't it? |

| Good to see you join the club Don Type II Diabetes is easily controlled by diet once the alcohol is no longer a factor, I have that too. Total abstinance is not necessary but does help. A glass of wine with dinner actually seems to help with the diabetes. |

| Dave: I drank the last of the duty free Bourbon on Thursday night, and I ain't got no more And a glass of wine every now and again won't do me any harm, but I'm not normally a wine or beer drinker anyway. Mark: According to the Quack, my Diabetes is under control(ish), and the Diabetes clinic at the Hospital said that it's fine to drink White spirits ie: Bacardi , Vodka and Gin , plus white wine is, as you've said, beneficial for the body as a whole. But the key is moderation. Something which I had trouble with (3 glasses was NOT enough!).

| That's good Don. I hope that those close to you, not just Karen but work mates etc, are able to recognise those symptoms of low blood sugar which can be different with different diabetics; such as awkwardness. |

| Well done Don. Congratulations on your decision and I wish you all the best with it. Watching Australia's Biggest Loser, there was one of the guys on that with Type II Diabeties who is now as right as rain after having lost a substantial amount of weight. To supplement your not drinking, why don't you start taking some walks around the block to start getting the fitness levels up too? I'm just kicking off my fitness program, I'll be doing the Body For Life routine, which is pretty good. No time like the present to start!! |

| Me and Karen used to go for a 20min brisk walk every other evening (last summer), then Winter set in, as did the Friday night Bourbon consumption..........and the exercise thing sorta went out the window. But now that I've decided to stop being a Friday booze hound, I feel more focused and confident for the future. Not that I was a doom and gloom merchant as such, but when ya eliminate a NEGATIVE, it leaves way more room for POSITIVES . When I return to Oz for a Soarer group mutual admiration event, I will have a few social drinks, but for the rest of the time I shall remain a "Booze Free" zone.

| Good work. Stopped drinking this year too. Don't intend to go back. I had the infrequent binge thing going. Then hard times hit and infrequent became frequent. Stopped and haven't looked back. I may at some stage decide one beer at social events is ok, but one has to be it for me. I can just tip those things in one after the other until I fall over. Each one makes the next seem like a better idea. No more! |
