I have spent the afternoon trying to start an engine in a crashed levin.
Engine turnsover easily, there is spark at the coil and fuel is pumping -it almost "catches" but doesn't start. Any clues appreciated. Thanks

You said it has spark at the coils, but what about at the plugs? Try pulling the leads off and see if they spark out on something grounded, like a tappet cover bolt or something. Sounds like it might be a couple of fouled plugs.

Could have some bent valves as well. Looks like timing is a bit off, or no electricity, like Ben said
