I had a look over my policy again and talked to just car insurance, you guys are right there was an option to cover me in this circumstance for damages up to $6000 including it being stolen or burnt. however i was never told this, my online contract that i printed out never showed this option and also it was an additional $200.
i've also thought about hiring private P.I. but they charge you a fee for taking on the case, i was quoted $150. then i am charged $50hr and also i am to be charged for any documentation that they need. but they are not 100% sure that they can find him or if i can get my money, thats really why i haven't taken this avenue yet. If you know a good and cheap P.I let me know.
MATE...last option, is to write a letter to ACA program( a cu-nt affairs..) and tell them your story, they might even do a thing on it and help track the guy for you..would cost you NOTHING!

I reckon Steve's comment is on the money - a solicitor would be able to tell you at least what you can and can't (legally) do. Probably not cheap though. Don't you have a friend doing law? Or was that someone else?
Is there anyone else out there who's had the same thing happen? We could get a big case file together and send it in to ACA or TT. I'm sure they'd love that type of thing. Just tonight I saw a story on road rage with absolutely no useful or valuable information in it. Just an endless loop of real and re-enacted road rage footage. So at least if it doesn't help your case you might get your head on TV!
