Hi, I am trying to find an agent in Japan for second hand tyres to import into Australia, approx, 1 container load per month. the problem is I am attempting to start a Tyre retail business butI am not in the tyre industry. Any hints or suggestion will be really appreciated. Thanks Kerry
Errrr, aren't the tyres on fresh jap imports replaced anyway for compliance purposes as they are illegal in some way. I think you should focus on somehting local Kerry. I'm sorry but I doubt you can actually do this.
EDIT, Oops, Jeff said what I said ^^^^^^^

Strange ewe's fella's should be yakking about this, but today I was talking to one of our drivers, and he is purchasing 4 NEW tires through a guy here in New Plymouth who imports NEW tires from Japan by the container load. Our guy is paying $45 LESS per tire fitted & balanced, than if he was to purchase them new, here in NZ.
So, here at least it's totally legit..........but in Oz I dunno.
If the Japanese NEW tires have the same side wall markings/speed rating, then I don't see a problem.
I DO know that the compounds vary between different markets........

At this stage I am led to beleive that is legal as just recently I was negotiating to purchase a business that traded in these tyres and new australian normal tyres the legal people for what good they are found there was no impropieratry in these sales of tyres. But still on a learning curve such as what size tyre does a ford laser etc. etc.
