I went looking at cars with my gf yesterday evening. She was specifically looking at getting a new Honda Accord and yadda yadda yadda, I was getting bored, started looking around the yard and came across a used S2000. Whoa, nice sexy black convertible with red leather seats. 2000 yr model, with 73K kms on the clock. Started talking to one of the salesman about it, then he told me the price, $39,990. Couldn't believe how cheap it got, down from $80K brand new. Things started getting serious, went for a 10 mins test drive and I was hooked. Performance wise equal or better than my TT (as judged my my bum in the seat feeling). Came back. Offered to give 36K. The guys said that is certainly possible. Almost got down to signing the papers when my gf came in... phew. And to think I almost cheated on my sweetheart (the soarer that is). I left the dealership, got to my car drove home with my gf (given it a few WOT moments too), she then went in the house, and I've given my baby a warm hug and said I'm sorry, I'll never do that again
But seriously though, $36K!!!!! Now I'm trying to get my gf to ditch the Accord and get that! We're going back there on saturday so stay tuned
They're quite nice, love the interior and the push button engine start, short shift manual yum yum. You can get HKS turbocharger kits for those, I wonder how much it would be to mod it down that path, hmmm, probably $$$$$. Don't worry though, I would never be one of those VTEC kicked in YO! dipshits
I have to look around in the paper and the net today, see what the prices are, at the time it seemed cheap, but then again I've never paid attention to their prices in the past, so if it can be bought even cheaper that's even better. I'm not getting it (maybe not yet, never know) but my gf was almost convinced last night, just gotta keep working on it. It would be too hard to let go of the Soarer though...
Oh geez, everything is cheaper in NZ you lucky bastards!!! Oh well, just had a quick browse and it looks like 36K is quite a good price, even private sales are listed at 38K...
They got slightly higher power to weight ratio than the Soarer, and no lag hehe. I'd miss the boost feeling in a turbo car though, love it how it deceives you and makes you think the car is actually faster.
Loved the roof too, it goes up and down in 5 seconds flat, no sh|t. I've driven SAAB convertibles before and they take almost a minute to open and close the roof. Sometimes they get stuck too. Oh well. I'm keeping my Soarer anyway, imagine the mods I can do to it for an extra 36K
EDIT: Oh, and the S2000 has a digi dash too That will definately be my next car, gotta be before I have any kids hahaha.
Ben Socratous TryHard SA Iv'e got less interior that all of you!!!

Speaking of sinning...
Mum was looking at a new station wagon about 6 months ago. Went down to the local ford joint with her. While she was talking turkey with the guy, I started to ask another sales dude what could I replace my soarer with (not that I would, but he didn't need to know that) 10 minutes later I'm in a top of the range GT falcon on wet roads. Not used to mass V8 power off the line, I light it up crazy with the guy right next to me! Started to appologise when he cut me off and said that I would be wise to really get the 'feel' of it. Informed him that I've done a bit of track work, he replied with that he trust me all the more! 30 minutes later and there was bugger all tread left on the rear tyres and massive smiles on both our faces. Gotta love young salesmen.
All this talk of test-drives reminds me of the time my old man took a Mk3 Supra TT for a test-drive form a dealer - he had no real intention of buying it, he just wanted to thrash the pants of "one of those turbos". Couldnt wipe the smile off my face for hours.
I know if I was ever going to consider "cheating" on my baby, it would only be for a turbo Liberty...and it wouldnt really be cheating, more like adding to the harem
Ummmm, no, no integra, S2000!!! There is one principle I will always adhere to when I'm buying a car, and that is rear wheel drive, and no less hehe. S2000 is a rear wheel drive car, which I found out yesterday. Before then I used to think it's front wheel drive but now it has my acceptance. The reason why she won't take the soarer is because of the age (yeah I know, I tried to explain something to her but she didn't listen). She likes the S2000 coz it's a convertible, I'll see how it goes on saturday, kind of hoping she gets it but I'm not setting my hopes too high hehe.

Like all Honda's you'll be wanting to flick it off in about 2-3 years before it craps out.
Not true at all. I revved my Honda to 8500rpm every day, raced it at the AHG track, Motorplex, Wanneroo and backed that up by driving it to work every day for 6 years. It never missed a beat. If I could have the same from any other car, id me more than impressed.
